i read in the past that after WYWH the band was fatigued and ran out of the magic that made them famous and then started working on their solo records and then Roger just started taking over and started to self indulge himself and then he leaves then becomes then everything becomes too Gilmour-centric. Neither extreme is preferable because each indulged his worst tendencies when left in (relative) charge
that is so true, when the band stopped being a band and it became about either roger or david that is where results are disgusting and indigestible to me
in fact rick wright did one of my fav pf song so there u go lol
Also Wish You Were Here HAS to be one of if not the coolest album covers ever
hereโs a funny thing: now that i got to rethink about the question i think ummagumma is imo their coolest artwork @RVI
that artwork just defines the visual of portrays musically like you KNOW what youโre about to listen to without getting too forced weird or cheesy (the endless river lmao still looks like an ad for retirement house to me)
i am actually gonna re listen to the wall tonight to see what exactly think of it
mainly when i listen to PF i listen Syd Barrett era or Animals (the best PF record in my opinion the first 5 mins dogs is their peak in my opinion)

wish you were here grew on me a lot lately, it still sounds like roger like you can hear the beginning of the dude whoโs gonna pull animals, but all the fun synths makes it up for it and brings that dressing creativity and flavor the next ones misses
this is so dumb, this song is amazing, itโs from davids first solo album that dropped in 1978, why canโt animals have had a song like that? just one between all the roger acoustic stuff
but also why did david never write as song as good for pf afterwards lol
@EuroNymous whats ur take

its my dads fav pink floyd record he told me listen to it when i was expanding my taste and i wanted hear some dust (surprised he doesnt have it on LP especially to see what he owned)
obvs WYWH is a great record no doubt about it great song writing all around, all the members were still giving input into the direction of the record and just wasnt just Roger Walters show and the production is amazing in general
still tempted to watch the full โthe later yearsโ doco just to get to know more about that whole era
listening to the wall rn
nearly finished side a, you know what
its pretty good not as good as some their top work but there is some fantastic production here which really holding side a together, through some lyrics are too self indulgent for my liking
the wall is like a 7 tbh
too long for my liking
i dislike the children singing part on another brick in the wall
ngl i hate the wall but i couldnt live with the fact to be associated with the nostalgia critic awfuls review of it so ๐ค
That nostalgia critic โโโreviewโโโ of the wall of is a straight up f***ing war crime. He needs to be tried under the Geneva convention for that
