2016. This wasn’t anything to do with any Michael music either, mike owned all of his publishing for his own stuff. This catalog had the Beatles, Eminem, Sly, Elvis, etc etc. And Pink Floyd ain’t worth more than Springsteen who didn’t get close to 500 m’s

But they’ve been generating $29m+ a year for the last 3 years off just vinyl sales, so is it really asinine? They do about $4mil a year in merch. Multiply those numbers by 20 and you got their valuation which is >$600m

In 2022 and beyond I’d say Springsteen is more relevant tbh. Floyd definitely has sold a good bit more than him though. I still don’t see how they’d get more than half of 500 m’s
