    people who go outside

Nah more likely it’s people who can’t afford to go outside until they get their weekly allowance.

This is without publishing. Dylan got like $200m for his catalogue and $500m for his publishing

“ The group known for hits such as “Money” and “Comfortably Numb” is selling its recording and songwriting catalog, as well as the power to create merchandise based on the band”.

There has to be publishing here. It’s songwriting included.

In 2022 and beyond I’d say Springsteen is more relevant tbh. Floyd definitely has sold a good bit more than him though. I still don’t see how they’d get more than half of 500 m’s

how do you figure he's more relevant in 2022?

I feel old in here. Y’all have no idea how worth $500 mil is just to put 4-5 songs in films. And that’s bare minimum.

do they not earn enough money from merchandising? i’m just curious as to why they’re selling their masters

Probably to sort this s*** out while theyre alive and spare generations of descendants bickering over it

MJ’s estate only got 750 million for Mike’s 50% stake of the Sony catalog… and that entire catalog is 10x more valuable than Pink Floyd’s at minimum. Y’all get on here saying anything. 500 million for Pink Floyd anything is asinine.

michael jackson got two semi-decent albums so that was highway robbery

2016. This wasn’t anything to do with any Michael music either, mike owned all of his publishing for his own stuff. This catalog had the Beatles, Eminem, Sly, Elvis, etc etc. And Pink Floyd ain’t worth more than Springsteen who didn’t get close to 500 m’s

I'm a big Springsteen fan and DSOTM and The Wall alone are worth more.

These old rock bands realizing their days are numbered. Bands like Aerosmith,Pink Floyd etc will barely get listened to like that in the next gen, they want one big final payday before they bow out.

Some of these guys in their 60’s perform better than people 20 years younger. Streams don’t mean that much man. You just aren’t looking. I go to to these “dad” Rock shows. KISS fans dress up as them like and they’re 40+
