Because their time has just passed. I’m not saying that most bands catalogs will end up like Elvis’s where his music has been incompatible with every generation since the 90s but,I don’t see enough people in the next generation playing Pink Floyd to the point where they actually see real money from streaming.
Also, those multiple generations that bought those records are the ones at the shows, growing old with these bands. Rock music is not a dominant force like it use to be in current pop culture. You have to think, when these bands die out, their fans will most likely die out too.
I get your point about the streaming revenue but still think you're being hyperbolic acting like in a few decades no one will be listening. Rock not being a dominant force anymore doesn't mean that people will just stop listening, it's not exactly going the way of ragtime or something like that and there are still artists today like Harry styles and Olivia Rodrigo that are heavily rock influenced. I agree with most of what you say but last sentence is exaggerating and the decline of some of these acts will be gradual and not instant
You think Beatles fans are going to die out when the remaining members die too?
These old rock bands realizing their days are numbered. Bands like Aerosmith,Pink Floyd etc will barely get listened to like that in the next gen, they want one big final payday before they bow out.
Stupid post, they’re cashing in on their legacy while they still can

Rock ain’t dominant but every rapper wanna be a rock star and rep old rock stars
do they not earn enough money from merchandising? i’m just curious as to why they’re selling their masters
Cause theyre dying and merch isnt making em 500mil
y’all know y’all can just say pink floyd is worth 500m without tryna to downplay rap right? lol…
like obviously pink floyd is one of the goats, only idiots and/or trolls disagree, but the way some of y’all itt are using them to s*** on rap is really pretentious and annoying but do y’all lol
they're one of the most influential, innovative and greatest bands ever... like yeah they kinda are
they just type on this site, hopefully when the app releases these niggas go back to reddit or something
Dudes on ktt proudly ignorant bout anything lmao

mainstream sellout out now
didnt JT get 200mil or negotiating 200mill
Man Of The Woods 🪵 has to bring that price down surely
Oh yea,I definitely understand the show/tour aspect a lot of these legacy bands live off of. That’s their bread and butter for sure,I can imagine a band like U2 still selling out stadiums overseas. What I’m saying is,most of that audience that goes to shows and what not, most likely don’t stream music like that, plus their old,so they won’t be here forever.
Add in the fact that almost all of the mega bands are mostly old people and you have to wonder, who’s gonna actually be here to stream our music (when we can’t tour, cause we’re dead)to where our families can get a nice royalty check? Imo,I think these bands have crunched the numbers and now,I think they see getting a ridiculous sum of money upfront is more viable to them in the long run.
Pink Floyd seems to do pretty well on streaming and their vinyl sales off the charts... 50 years in their career lol
I may be out of touch but is there catalog really worth 500 mill in this day and age? Like is it a good investment with the current streaming age and declining physical sales? maybe that's why they are trying to quickly sell it off
Rock ain’t dominant but every rapper wanna be a rock star and rep old rock stars
Nobodys talking about influence though. Their influence and talent is undisputed. What he's talking about is it doesn't connect with the new generation like that. Will they really be able to make money back in this new streaming age where physical sales are declining?
Seems like a fair amount, their discography is insane.
