Although I enjoyed this album and disagree with the score from this review, I still thought bruh did a nice breakdown of the album
I agree with the part about Ye. Listening to Travis makes me appreciate Ye transparency. He made grandiose statements with his albums and wasn’t afraid to be vulnerable. I feel Trav never really told his life story in that way. Does make his music feel more hollow. His performance doesn’t have as much energy and personality as the production
And the feats on Ye albums were career-defining. I don’t think Trav brings the best outta artists like Ye did but from a production standpoint he does a decent job of including outside contributions. The feats don’t feel random
Overall I think Trav delivered with that blockbuster vibe. There are some empty moments but the album is still fun to listen to. Insane beats fr. Highlight of the album. Travis doesn’t get completely overshadowed though. He manages to find a good pocket on all the songs and holds his own imo

that’s a fair point but i never thought of trav as a human much in his music. like obviously he’s a human with thoughts and feelings family etc but kanye’s music has always been like a mission statement which is a big part of his appeal trav’s music has always been about the vibe to me.
if trav’s goal is to be dropping crazy lyrics and it comes out hollow that’s one thing and a valid thing to hold against him but if for 80% of his music it’s just about vibes and him admitting the lyrics are whatever idk if it’s a valid critique against him since it’s not his goal
Once my eyes glazed over to (guess who did the review) I paused, looked up from my phone and glared through the dewy melted sand with a mix of disgust, albeit unsurprisingly so, with but one thought running through my brain…
“The gall of this b**** ass nigga Alphonse Pierre. Tuh.”
I’m dying
for reference, I like Veeze but how is this album better than Utopia?
https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/veeze-ganger/
I’m not knocking but i’m geniuely curious as to how people think this album is better, I’d love to hear opinions
Because it’s ironic and makes you look interesting when you act like low effort mid is the greatest thing ever, and turn around and hate on things that sound like someone tried hard to make
It’s provocative and keeps people guessing about u

while true I mean you would expect some growth. We're 10 years in and he's as vapid as ever
Tbh that’s basically the same score I’d give it off only a single listen

You don’t even like the beats on there? Some of them are absolutely ridiculous
honestly that's pretty spot on. The album doesn't really get spins from me, even the songs that I like.
Whereas with Astroworld, I was bumping that for a whole year straight

Nah I’m with you bruh
Not saying lyrics are an afterthought for me but it depends on the artist. Never paid close attention to Travis bars
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel anything after listening to a Trav song so he accomplishes exactly what he set out to do
I just feel like he would benefit from better songwriting bc every other aspect of his music is solid. Sonically he’s already pretty ambitious. When people criticize his writing I see their point. Was probably why I hated on him so much in the past. I don’t hold it against him anymore though. I see the vision and I’m not mad at it

i see what you’re saying he’s always had a few songs on every album that sounded personal (90210, goosebumps, coffee bean) it would be cool to have a whole album like that hopefully the next one he tries just to get some variety

i like utopia more than ganger. but just cus something sounds like they tried hard to make it doesn’t mean it’s good. look at The Big Day for example lmao

There were some cool beats on there but still obviously low effort stuff

I would say it’s unfair to compare people to Ye, but people do it chronically themselves with Travis… every prime Ye album feels so narratively strong basically as an extension of his life vs a dude who doesn’t address THAT much in his music really

I’m saying internet ppl these days are more inclined to act like one is better than the other regardless of quality
Basically I’m describing hipster tendencies
All I know is that regardless of this niggas opinion on artists I f*** with
I have never agreed with this muppet on anything, and I proudly wear that like a badge
It’s some of y’all in here like “OMG TOTALLY AGREE😫” sharing the same opinion with this nigga is disgusting
albums like ganger are cool and buzzy and bristle with a sort of energy that is basically absent from utopia. you can think the latter is 'objectively' more impressive or w/e if you'd like but don't be surprised if others like the former more for those reasons.
Mostly joking but this nigga approaches all of his reviews with a tongue in cheek, “how can I get ktt to make a thread” style
Not respectable stuff
