These criticisms are as soulless and vapid as the artist they are accusing Travis of being.

Travis has never been a great lyricist or touched on any important sociopolitical topics - acting like Utopia revealed any of this is disingenuous and hypocritical. I can name 10 other artists off the top of my head that aren't superior lyricists to travis yet no one expects them to be.

This album is literally just 2023 Owl Pharaoh but if it was full of Antidotes and Beibs in the Traps it'd be universally loved. Thank GOD that is not the case

Yeah owl pharoah was derivative and all over the place conceptually w questionable execution as well lol

This is the real “member since 2023” test, hold up a photo of Megan Garvey or Craig Jenkins and if it prompts an emotional response, they’re allowed in

the shambles when Craig Jenkins was talking about a drop that was gonna break the internet and he was talking about Motorsport

if you're going to misrepresent people thinking travis is more of a passenger than ever on this album and with basically nothing to say even in terms of hype or cool sounding stuff as 'expecting him to be lyrical miracle' what's the point lol

Thing with Owl Pharaoh is that there was some charm in how derivative it was. It was his first major mixtape and he was wearing his influences on his sleeve that's cool. But you mean to tell me this dude is giving me that same thing ten years later...and now it's also missing that amateur charm and comes off as more robotic than ever?

    Just disappointing honestly.

Other than the lyrics, my biggest criticism of the album is the lack of originality. Yeah we got the obvious Yeezus copies, but there were other songs on the album that made me think of songs by other artists. Felt like I was listening to a Logic album

I gave up on arguing with the guy who kept telling me I am just an angry hater. I hopped on KTT today and saw that he has not stopped posting about Travis for like 24 hours straight lol

Look at a gunna or lil baby album and you'll find memorable contributions from them, travis' own fingerprint on his own albums is rapidly diminishing. If you wanna try be Kanye without the charisma and with the edges sanded off don't be surprised if ppl treat u like dj khaled

What’s one memorable contribution from the last baby or gunna album? Quickly

We can acknowledge people pick and choose these arguments based on their favs, but let’s be real lmfao

their last two albums kinda mid so I didn't listen much. wunna/dod2 and my turn have plenty though.

some of u seem to think travis style grandiosity is the only requirement for greatness in music and conversely that a lack of it makes music bad or impossible to compare to anything that does attempt it

Wouldn’t their fingerprints be rapidly diminishing then?

i wouldn't say that criticism is as applicable because neither really hold themselves out as arch curators. I think gunna made a bad call to pivot to certain production/rapping style after how good wunna was and the result bar a few highlights on the two albums since is kinda forgettable. i think baby maybe overthought and overcooked his second album, whereas my turn while definitely flawed had a certain looseness to it that worked for him.

It’s definitely applicable because Trav doesn’t “hold himself out as arch curator”, he makes music just like them. Funny how you can make excuses for them making straight by the numbers mid and losing their touch, but Trav taking his time and cultivating a sound & style means his fingerprints are diminishing somehow. S*** doesn’t even make sense cus this is the closest he’s been to his original sound in like 8 years. If anything he’s more in touch with himself than before, and it’s the opposite for them. If you don’t like that that’s fine but your argument makes no sense

lol what you're saying makes no sense - I'm literally laying out criticisms for these artists in the same way I've done for travis in this thread and you're saying this is somehow contradictory or hypocritical.

I stopped listening to it when the score came out. I only listen to albums that are certified by both pitchfork and fantano as at least an 8/10
