people gotta realize that its the audience that gives a reviewer their power and, more than that, it's an opinion at the end of the day. the way people treat negative reviews you'd think one of these critics just killed a member of their family or something.

Generally these days the scores are just safe. A trap album for instance will usually get 7.3 (or within a few decimal places either side). Then an artist they don’t like regardless of the quality of the album will get below that. The last review I read was the first kings disease and all they talked about was sexism and toxic masculinity, didn’t really mention the music. I don’t read them anymore, just don’t take them seriously

They thrive on the validation of the mass opinion and throw an arbitrary number at the end, I only find reviews useful when I have problems describing how I feel about a project and they have similar experiences
