I think they keep Alphonse and let him do these big reviews cus it probably gives the most site traction & clicks w the consistent controversial takes & hate, rivaled only by pop reviews
Look, I get it. Not everyone is going to agree with my take, and that’s part of the job. When I review an album, I’m not writing to confirm your bias or cater to fandoms—I’m giving you my honest perspective, backed by years of listening to and studying music. That’s the gig.
Kendrick is undeniably one of the most important artists of our time, but not everything he drops is above critique. GNX is ambitious, no doubt, but ambition doesn’t automatically equal greatness. My review wasn’t about tearing him down; it was about engaging with the music critically. If that didn’t line up with your feelings about the album, cool—we’re allowed to disagree.
But let’s be real: the energy some of y’all bring to these threads makes it clear you don’t want reviews; you want validation. That’s not what I’m here for. Let the music speak for itself, and if you think I’m off the mark, fine—but at least try to engage with the points instead of coming with pitchforks. Respectfully.
Btw I was wondering if I can work with Pitchfork? I'm an aspiring writer that creates essay pieces here on KTT2
Kendrick is obviously telling black stories in his song so Em of course wouldn’t be rapping abt that specifically, but i defo see em doing different verses as different characters he sees as past lives. Part of Em’s whole gimmick throughout his career is always playing some character
This isn't a thing you can attribute to Em at all, it's fairly common throughout the history of the genre. Fair enough if you want to say sonically but saying conceptually is a forced comparison
WTF PITCHFORK IS RACIST - KILL THEM MURDER THEM ARREST THEM - SUE THEM WTF
THIS CANT BE TRUE WTF WTF
Oh this d*** head got banned? Thank for he can go back to fighting those giant tarantulas and kangaroos out in New Zealand

Ok but the sonics mixed with the subject matter was giving Em. I wasn’t attributing the concept to him but the whole ensemble reminds me of him
Who cares what a cracker publication has to say the music bangs
Yes to the 1st part,
nay to the 2nd

to answer your edit
a LOT of people give a f***, it seems. and maybe not necessarily about Pitchfork, but about strong opinions opposed to one's own. everybody wants to be ""right"" instead of acknowledging and accepting differing points of view. that's life.
Get your hearing checked I guess

Music wasnt made for ppl who look like me.
