did anyone here really connect with the beyonce album?
genuinely curious
if so, why?
Nah but I get why people like it
But yeah the Beyonce album is really good. I like it more than Formation bc it’s has more replay value for me personally
Earl being 13 but billy woods outside of the top 20 is insanity to me
F*** Pitchfork btw
Love seeing Nilüfer Yanya get love on all these year end lists
decent list but surprisingly not as much rap as i wouldve expected, been a great hip hop year and its only in like 5 spots
@op did you see P4K’s review on the new Richard Dawson? crazy how they were criticising his “empty” lyrics and then somehow put these pop albums with no attention to detail above it

Chat Pile 🤢 Worst, most embarrassing thing I heard this year. I’d successfully forgotten they exist until just now.
I seriously don’t get the hype and reappraisal of the nu metal sound, that album was average but their ep from 2019 was really bad lol
This finally got me to listen to the Bad Bunny, which I actually like a lot. Feels like a soft improvement over the last one I heard for him. Though if Pitchfork truly appreciated Latin America I'd appreciate a little more coverage for less mainstream stuff... Natalia Lafourcade is right there, Marc Ginale right there, Niños del Cerro right there, Silvana Estrada right there. I'm sure there are many other options worth some spotlight
Why do people keep pretending Big Thief is anything special lol
They are insanely good
why do you think?
well made album with a large impact. the sequencing on it is prolly the best of the year

yea they are so out of touch with contemporary hip hop. I love Earl and Kendrick but it's telling they went with old favs (on their off years) rather than celebrating some folk at the top of their game like Billy. With that being said, his inclusion alone was better than I was expecting, so there's that

P4K is doing him dirty, just as they did with Jeffrey Lewis and Kimya Dawson/Moldy Peaches back in the day. they'll get it one day

Tbh, I never liked Kimya’s stuff either but I did listen to her a fair bit back in the day
but that’s weird considering all the other anti folk picks like AJJ and Jordan Mason I know for a fact they loved
why is black country this low on the list?
This is an easy top 10 album if this was Pitchfork from 10 years ago
consequence's top 50 is REALLY interesting they have SZA's SOS at 11
. Dunno if i should make a seperate thread

Renaissance connected with the masses and captured what everyone wanted while reviewing well
No other album this year has done that
I understand that, I'm just speaking for myself
