Wouldn’t those be sequels not reboots?
If you read the article and follow-up tweet it appears they’re talking more about sequels and spinoffs than actual reboots.
It sucks that their movies haven’t been doing well because I really enjoyed Luca, Encanto, and Turning Red — as did my daughter.

Oh I’m in for an Incredibles 3
They can keep their Nemo sequel tho

Encanto was Disney not Pixar but I agree I feel like they went on a small run with Soul, Luca, Turning Red. Covid just f***ed it up it’s no surprise those are the 3 they chose to re-release for theaters
I’m not a Disney hater and I understand covid were tough times. I even remember being happy about being able to watch new movies at home.
But the way they’d give their Disney animated movies theatrical releases while Pixar went straight to Disney+ was messed up and set the mindset of being able to wait for these movies to hit streaming
Couple that with the fact Disney and Pixar’s original efforts haven’t reached expected heights it’s no wonder we’re back in sequel era even though they said they were done with that

Pixar lowkey got pushed down post the MeToo push out of John Lasseter I feel like Disney saw him as the brain and add on the consistent underperformances post him and it just drilled into them "that was his house without him it's nothing"
Pixar is running with one of the original three brain trust it's frankly time to fire alot of people and start over as harsh as it sounds.
The stuffs good but it's not changing the game anymore and that was Pixars job

I really thought Pete Doctor would be able to right the ship but you’re right it’s time for some fresh blood in there

It's wild cuz I understand Disney perspective with it 100% cuz Pixar hasn't done anything truly game changing or culturally beloved in years.
You look at how Spider-Verse effectively rewrote the animated film game in the past 7 years and how every great US animated film has followed its blueprint and it really shows how far they're behind.
It's the same old same old Pixar stuff and people are beyond it now the only way to win is to invent a new Pixar.
Pixar movies are still high quality
It's just that kids today attention spans are as long as a hang nail
They don't care but I'm in for the Incredibles because that's something they can go as long as they want on
Idk how they could flip Finding Nemo, Finding Dory was already too much imo
Toy Story needs a reboot i said it
The characters and franchise is too big and great not to go on
But the story has gone too far
Just revert back to Andy’s room with all the characters status quo and make a whole new story

They could try a new room with new toys if they really wanted to continue the IP. So many of the OG cast have passed atp. I do agree there’s a lot they can do in that world and that’s proven with all of the great shorts they have out there exploring it

A reboot could recast characters as needed. I don’t love the idea of new toys it’s too easy to mess up, and the heart of the IP is the characters
the only Pixar movie i could maybe see as a reboot would be A Bugs Life but what’s the point
Why bugs life
Waited like 12 years or something for the incredibles 2, forgot that s*** even came out it was so forgettable
Speak for yourself that first half will always be amazing to me
But they been having some stinkers lately from what I’ve heard so can’t blame them but smh just hire new talents
