Luca & Turning Red didn’t even get theatrical releases (until this year) why are they acting like they were failures they need to learn from?

I believe it has something to do with Elemental’s shaky start during its box-office run. It was also a Pixar movie inspired by the filmmaker’s real-life story.
Turning Red’s director actually announced her next movie was about to be even more autobiographical than before; I guess that’s cancelled now.
It’s a depressing state of affairs when financials get in the way of creative pursuits.

Lightyear wasn’t autobiographical-esque and yet that movie did a lot of damage to Pixar’s sustainability at the box office.

Toy Story 5’s existence is becoming clearer now. Have they already announced Cars 4???

Cars is a moneymaker so it’s only a matter of time lol

Pixar’s last original idea hit was Coco in 2017 but I do feel like they kinda overreacting with movies struggling across the board. Elemental did have legs to eventually make a small profit ($496M on a $200M budget)

Maybe their plan is to cash in on sequels to fund original idea risks after a few down years but that could just me being optimistic

Did I read OP right? Sounded like Iger said if Inside Out (a sequel) does NOT do well, that informs us that we DO need to make more sequels

The morale at the company must be at its lowest than it’s ever been there.. Your colleagues are gone and you’re forced to work on cookie-cutter s*** that you’re not passionate about.

We gotta make sure their next original movie Elio succeeds (if it’s mediocre then forget what I said lmao, but RIP Pixar then 🫡).

Incredibles would’ve been the easiest franchise to pop off instead they spent 20 years with only 2 movies and nothing else
