Yes mine does charge slower than my last phone (Galaxy S8)
If you have an alarm set in the morning it will slow charging so it hits 100 right when the alarm goes off which is cool I guess. It also just charges pretty slowly in general

iPhone user here, thinking of switching to Pixel.

i've always already heard crazy s*** about terrible app optimization for even the most popular apps on Android. Is that still the case with the Pixel?

how would those of you who've used both iPhones and Pixels stack them up directly against each other in terms of App optimization and general software health?

damn. ngl i was hoping for the pixel to put up more of a fight. if google doesn't do it right, who else has any hope

i'm just really f***ing bored with iOS rn and simultaneously super enamored by the Pixel's camera + insane software features, but iPhone reliability & consistency is really something else. the pixel seems to be a better toy while the iphone seems to be a better tool.

that's good to know. i do like google's own take on android the best in how it looks and feels

gonna be tough but i really want to see if i can get my hands on a pixel for at least a few days before i can take a call

i've been a lifelong iOS user so i can't jump right in without knowing for sure. especially since my work involves a lot of Apps for online engagement & a***ytics (IG, Pinterest, Discord, Google A***ytics, Facebook Ads, Shopify, etc).

my entire app ecosystem working optimally & consistently is quite important to me. would love to be able to give it a test ride first hand to see how it is as a daily device.

how is the Pixel 6 battery life in your opinion? I've heard some really bad things, but tech reviewers blow things out of proportion sometimes.

I did the opposite. Went from Android to IOS but I'm an og IOS user and used to loved them. Honestly app optimization isn't really much different. Pixel will have it implemented the best on any Android phone so I wouldn't worry about that. I posted my legnthy review on this thread:
    ktt2.com/iphone-is-garbage-at-file-management-32491837/7

    I'll quote it:

I’m currently in the same boat as OP. Using my siblings iPhone 12 since they’ve upgraded. The whole home ui is terrible
To change icons takes so much effort with shortcuts etc and that’s just a horrible implementation to get round to customising and there’s barely any decent widgets. The App Library section is a cluttered mess. They should at least let you choose the categories you want to have. The default apps thing is only valid for a few apps only. For example I want to use Apollo for any Reddit links that I google up but instead you either have to use the actual Reddit app which is trash or open it on the web browser which is limited. I know you can share the link then open but that’s just a stupid extra step. In android you set whatever app you wanna use and then from then on it will always use that app to open. So many years and they only starting to implement things that were on Android like 10 years ago. One thing I will give them is the camera system is great. Im going to give this a couple weeks before I make my mind up. Going on holiday next week

Further update post holiday: I still hold the same views above. I really tried to be open to it and the crazy thing is I’m a former iPhone user lol but it’s just too limited in terms of the ui/layout/design. Apple are known for design but their icons are horrible and doesn’t even go together. The same green phone and message icons from years ago a grey camera icon next to it its just not pleasing. Android UI layout is not that great either out the box but they let you set up how u like without the clutter. The locked file system is horrible. Having files set up in individual apps instead of accessing it from anywhere is long. People always say Apple runs the apps better and I didn’t have issues with it but I’ve never had issues with a flagship android either. I feel like that was a thing years ago but people still hold on to it. I’ve compared photo shots with an s21 on holiday and the iPhone struggled at times getting the shadows and skin tones wrong. Both are great cameras tho but Videography is on another level on the iPhone. Everything looks so crisp and the stabilisation is next level. It can’t be touched. The YouTube app is terrible and I can’t believe the Picture in Picture mode is a premium feature. YouTube vanced is a million times better than YouTube itself with auto skip sponsors (life changing) and volume/brightness gestures so I guess that spoilt me. The battery lasted a day which is great but flagships all do nowadays. Overall thinking about it the only thing I liked was the camera but android cameras are not even bad. I’d rather have a A-/B+ camera with unrestricted control than an A+ camera and a s***ty ui

thank you so much for taking the time to find your earlier review man

main thing for me was obviously the general optimization of apps, which i'm glad you think is a lot more leveled out than it was in the past.

i feel you 100% on a lot of iOS quirks though. spot on about some of these insanely outdated problems. I have been aware of them them, but thankfully, they've not been much of a hinderance in my personal workflow (i never use App Library, don't ever save local files on my phone, etc.)

thankfully the new iOS updates have also allowed to change the default apps (FINALLY!). so i've been able to change my default browser to Brave and music player to Spotify which makes life a lot simpler

i do agree with some of the garbage design decisions though. my personal biggest pet peeve with iOS is the fact that i can't remove the name label of an app or widget from below the icon...it is absolutely infuriating. like, i have enough basic visual memory to remember the names of the apps based on the icon fam

the biggest thing pulling me towards the Pixel is the camera. I'm super into photography and i love Pixel image processing.

just trying to make an informed decision before/if i take the leap.

Icon labels I also hate you can't position the icons where you want on the screen like c'mon Apple is known for aesthetics but the home screen is terribly implemented

Why not try get a pixel from like Amazon and then you will have 30 days to try it or return it

If you do end up getting an android then quote me and I'll recommend apps/set up

  • Been using an iphone for the first time ever.. lmao notifications are so bad. Widgets are better but a pain to rearrange.

I think there's been a lot of convergence between ios and android. If you don't really need iMessage, I reckon it's neck and neck at times

i know man. i think the home screen on iOS is in need for the biggest overhaul out of all features. it has been exactly the f***ing same since the very first iPhone in 2007

i tried using a Pro Max once and that s*** was nearly unusable with apps all the way up in the top left and right corners. i have medium sized hands, and i don't really find a 6.7 inch phone hard to hold, but its the software that has me stretching all the way across the screen in really uncomfortable ways.

thanks man if i take the leap i'll definitely be hitting you up!

I was watching basketball on some illegal streaming site and I think I accidentally clicked on one of the pop ups and now I'm getting pop ups from time to time saying I have a virus or some other bs

I downloaded Kaspersky since I can use it in full for a week but it couldn't identify the problem

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do to identify and end the problem?

What kinda popup are you getting now? It's probably a notification hijack with some website. For the future I'd use Firefox and ublock origin to hide the ads when on those sites

Try going on Chrome in notifications and searching for the exact site that's popping up so you can disable all kinds of notifications

    Also Google for answers

a lot of nefarious sites will throw pop ups that force you to turn on notifications, just keep an eye out for it
