which one we think is better, the og version or the surf take
OG one for me but that might be due to nostalgia purposes
Whoa, I’m literally listening to Surfer Rosa rn, and then I see this thread

you listened to some of frank solo stuff? there’s some crazy good stuff
also his 2007’s “bluefinger” was originally meant to be the first pixies comeback album but kim deal turned it down so he had the female vocals done by his wife and made it a solo album
Trompe Le Monde >>
trompe le monde title song >>>
and when they bring back that bossanova surf mood to close the album 🏄

@RVI @Womanpuncher69 you guys stan? 🤔🤔
@cotton_dockers
Oh, totally. Not really into anything after Trompe le Monde but yeah, one of my big high school loves. Saw them once in Asheville, NC when Kim was still in the band, on the Doolittle 20th anniversary tour. Surfer Rosa’s definitely my favorite album of theirs. Love the Breeders, too (also saw them once!), and I liked Frank Black’s first two solo albums.

im a fan but not a stan
Love this band, but I tend to listen to stuff they influenced a lot more than them (nirvana, pj harvey, smashing pumpkins, etc). But nobody can deny how f***ing great doolittle and surfer rosa are.

i was supposed to go at one of those shows, my biggest regret ugh, so lucky.. did they play other songs?
yeh havnt got much back to the material post trompe.. franks first albums are def up there with the og pixies album lvl tho
this is the most alt rock 90s video ever lol
never got into breeders tho, bores me idk.. maybe i should retry but ehhh, it’s too softy
funny is that kim deal dropped out all the comebacks attempt and the one that happened last minute out of fear for the bands legacy, i think that’s a shame, it’s just music, you shouldn’t let your insecurities or judgement of ppl guide you
@krishna_bound surely you into them right?
Favorite tracks from Joey’s other band:

They opened with “Do the Manta Ray” and some other b-sides from the album, played all of Doolittle in order (I never liked “Silver” but Joey plays it with a bunch of crazy tremolo when they do it live so it was actually awesome), then the rest of the b-sides, then they encored with “U-Mass” and “Where Is My Mind?” and maybe something else?
here’s one for the drummer
david does the vocals on this, frank gave it for him to sing kinda like how beatles did with ringo
when they broke up david didn’t have much checks to live off of since he didn’t write, so he turned into magician, his hobbie became his job, he struggled but thankfully the comeback tours and then now the full on albums has helped him out financially thank god
but yeh just thot it was a nice story, it definitely happens to more famous drummers than we think, that’s why travis barker is hustling like a g
