here’s a funny thought
pixies covered neil young more than once, twice in fact, first the “winterlong” ive already posted which was a song that was only released on a pricey neil young boxset and a live, never cut in studio (just to give you context how knowledgeable frank is) and the second one ”i’ve been waiting for you” an obscure neil young song off of his debut album (let’s be honest no one goes back to that one much, only frank digs like that)
here’s what interesting: bowie has showered pixies with love, covering them way back in 1991 when he was with his tin machine band
a band which i even suspect he made out of his love for pixies and this coming back of rock bands mm
he was even spotted in studio when they recorded trompe le monde and did some interview (as ive posted the clip) for a documentary about them along with radiohead
a documentary which i believe was shot around their comeback? 2001? same time bowie recorded and released his fantastic album heathen which contains his pixies cover cactus
but here’s where it comes in full circle, the same album contains another cover... “i’ve been waiting for you” by neil young!
what are the odds?
coincidence? yeah right, get outta here, bowie totally nerded out off of pixies on that one!
