I’ve never listened to any of the albums after Trompe le Monde, are they anywhere as good as the first four?

eeeehhhh verryyy hit and miss
like their first comeback album has their first bad song in their catalogue imo, so already a red flag for what was so far a flawless run

then second is about samey altho it’s more consistent, by a mile, this song brazzy it was the first one frank started screaming again like the old pixies days i shat my pants b

then they dropped the ball on the new one, it’s gothic theme, it’s definitely their more coherent album wise, but what a snooze

i do save this song tho it’s a blassic, sounds like something off of trompe le monde

no, not at all lol but there’s some good stuff to pick here and there, some songs are as good as peak pixies but it also houses the first bad pixies songs

i would suggest in priority picking on franks two first solo albums as lot of it he worked on while still with pixies anyway

But I appreciate the info, I may give them a listen after I finish my re-listen to Bossanova and Trompe, but I’ll check his solo stuff out for sure, sounds awesome what little I’ve heard of it

Check out Last Splash, too! If you like “Cannonball” I imagine you’ll at least like that one and Pod. Pod has this great “Happiness Is a Warm Gun” cover where they kind of invert the dynamics of the original, at least at the climax:
