First time overseas, what do y'all suggest. it's gonna be me and two of my other friends (all black).
looking for art, food, shopping, outdoorsy stuff and bars. only there for a week and might split time between madrid and barcelona. what y'all think?

went to Madrid in November 2021
you gonna love it dude.
such a beautiful city and a lowkey vibe, I loved it, esp. in Autumn months like that
all me and my girl did was get up, get dressed, walk around the city a bit stopping at every place that looks nice and having a wine glass there, along with the olives they be giving out
-go to 'El Chapandaz' (dope bar for the younger demographic, has a cool inside-a-cave like feeling and aesthetic, and it gets packed)
-try the 'Patatas Brabas' wherever you go (spicy cheesy fries) you will NOT regret it
-Wine is mad cheap and mad good, have as much as you desire
-go to 'Perrachica' a nice higher end bar with AMAZING hookah
Madrid is amazing !
Planning to live there ! beautiful city and architecture.

big thread about it.
Madrid is the least interesting one but i´ve lived here 10 years so I can tell you a bit (if I were you I would take a train from Atocha and stop in Alcalá de Henares, very nice and cozy university city).
So there are various zones in Madrid that you could visit, depends on what you want to do, you will avoid cars at all costs, metro and the electric scooters (I prefer bikes) are your friends.
Callao:
El Corte Inglés Club Gourmet: you have an entire floor full of luxury products and (also affordable) open restaurants, with a nice view of the Gran Via
Malasaña + Fuencarral street + Chueca
This is a nice combo for walking through a sea of narrow streets and seeing nice shops, thrifts, street culture related stuff..eating can be more expensive since there´s many local owned places with extravagant tastes lol, they´re also nice places for parties if that´s what you´re seeking.
Plaza de España:
This is like the center center of Madrid, there you have a nice park surrounded by big old office buildings from the Franco era. Next to it you have an egyptian temple (Temple of Debod), it's located in a park, open space. You can also visit the Royal Palace there.
La Latina / Plaza de la Cebada:
This is a place full of life especially during the weekend, Sunday is even fuller because there's an old things market across the entire neighborhood.
Casa del Campo
Madrid´s green zone, go there if you feel adventurous, you have a big ass lake in where you can rent a lil boat and go by yourself (4 people max), there's many nature trails, a cableway and also a theme park.
All these places are accessible trough subway.
If you´re into art exhibitions here´s a few places you can visit for free:
hope this helps @op

it was a lil warmer then you think..
thin sweaters, hoodies, things like that will do
no snow or extreme cold weather like in new england at that time thats for sure.

I thought it was only packed because of festival weeks in the summer
I spent a day in madrid like a month ago and it was really nice for walks and brunch(all i had time to do) but it was 37 degrees at like 5-6 pm
