Exploring the rooftops is fun, I like that they function similarly to the wild areas. At first I was wondering where all the pokemon catching was gonna go down because there’s so few wild areas but now it makes sense

I think it’s funny when people complain about the graphics like mf we used to play this:

This art style is timeless and still sought after though. Or at least pixel art in general.

Theres a reason why people still praise the Battle Revolution and Stadium visuals despite being crazy outdated. There was style and soul in the visual flair of those games that aren't as present in todays releases.

I mean we won’t know what we think in 20 years I don’t think anyone was mind blown about the 1996 art style, the first Zelda looks just the same and came out like 10 years earlier

There definitely was and is a section of the fanbase who appreciated that stuff on arrival back then. I was one of them and became an artist through appreciating GBC sprite work.

There were already debates around art style going from gen 2 to 3 and how some sprites and move animations lost their luster in the upgrade (and got them back in gen 4.) Meanwhile we’ve mostly been using the same models for Pokemon since XY. Theres so much to say about the limitations of pixel art and how it allowed for creativity in gaming but thats another conversation.

Anyway my point is making that comparison doesnt work because those were standard Game Boy graphics for the time and the resources available. There was no reason to complain because nobody knew better. We’ve seen other franchises reach higher highs since then while also continuing to push the bar in terms of gameplay while Pokemon tends to do the opposite or just move so much slower than everyone else while taxing and selling like crazy.

The complaints get annoying after a while but its wild to act like they’re invalid. Especially in the midst of all these leaks where we see Game Freak themselves know and try to do better than they are allowed to thanks to TPCi’s influence.

The fashions in this game seem to be the best since customization was introduced

SV had some great accessories though i ran that card up

The leaks do confirm my belief that they are just phoning it in to print money
A $ budget that ends up being $1 for each copy sold is ridiculous
Pokemon is one of the longest running animated series and we can't get one game with voices, Veronica Taylor should've been voiced Ash in a hypothetical game already

I'm not saying the game needs to even look close to a PS4 game but c'mon... the Wii U was more powerful than the PS3/Xbox & the Switch was somewhat more powerful than that, if I played GTA V on that PS3 then surely they can give us a Pokemon game that is at least as visually inspiring as Super Mario Odyssey
