Open borders was never a real thing in the modern world outside the u.s. most nations tend to be liberal but anti immigration

I wouldn’t say it’s a consequence of capitalism, simply a consequence of globalization and pandemics happened every time humanity tried mini globalization like the silk road in the middle age

However the fear of pandemics and the fact that the virus will keep going in some parts of the world for way longer than others will make it easier for politicians to close their borders

And this + political instability will probably force multinational companies to change their model

EU is not on the verge of collapse. People have clung to this belief for decades now in every crisis thats occured.

The Schengen has time and again proved extremly flexible and is unique in that position.

Undoubtedly, certain nations will have to take economic reform, but that comes as no surprise.
