    I told y'all about this s***

i just wanna be young and focus on my life and my family (selfish, i know). honestly the mental burden wouldn't be so bad if we were all on the same page. however, so many people are climate change deniers so the people who really do believe just feel extra hopeless and misunderstood. it's like we have to care extra for everyone else who refuses to care.

you did tell us. and i always believed you!!

Mmh it's tough to be aware of this s*** and feel like you're talking to brick walls everywhere. Some camaraderie would definitely make it more bearable.

Grateful I don't live in a terrible climate region like the west coast, beautiful low 80s weather out here, now if we could just get rid of the humidity and the mosquitoes

hes been so solid in everything else (relationships, family ,community, etc.) and he charges me half prices cuz I'm a student. I'd have to pay out the ass for a new one. I just had to compartmentalize this particular issue...

Damn fair enough I guess. If it’s still weighing on your mind though, I’d recommend talking to someone else about that particular issue. S*** like this can be hard to ignore, I know.

well if there is any optimism, this is the survival of our species on the line. within 3-10 years, it will be absolutely undeniable that this is occurring because of human actions. at that point, our best scientists, our politicians, and everyone motivated to survive will have to do everything possible to ensure we can inhabit this place longer. so if we do all die (probably not happening within the next couple of decades IMO), we kind of deserve it and it will answer some important questions, even if shortly before our eventual doom. we will know that the Great Filter (and the reason we haven't been visited by extraterrestrials or vice versa) is that an industrial age destroys a large civilization before space travel is readily available. but there is more technology to be discovered so i'm not completely devastated. just really f***ing spooked.

the media is also clearly taking this more seriously, so maybe that will wake people up sooner than later.

    sorry for the essay

i dont really feel like its a case of whethr people believe it or not

the rich believe it whole heartedly
remember bp/shell (or some oil company) released a report in the 70s that burning fossil fuels will lead to climate change

the rich believe it whole heartedly, and they are our representatives in government. they just want short term profit over long term human existence; and its been that way forever.

we desperately need a system of governance which isn't overly concerned with profits

you're absolutely right. they've always known how they've been f***ing us. they just knew they'd be dead by the time it got too bad so they reaped the benefits and lived lavishly at the entire world's expense. they must be held accountable and we gotta figure out how to live in a world without millions of cars.
