LTST is such a perfect album... feel like the bar is too high tbh, but hype to hear what he has too offer

True. LTST was just an instant masterpiece. Crazy how long it's been. Can literally remember exactly where I was and all for that first listen it was so memorable.

That said, Baking Soda was enough to do away with any trepidation I had for this. Extremely excited.

Idk why I have no hype for this. The singles were cool, not what I was expecting but we’ll see how the album sounds

Same. Been waiting for his album for years but the singles let me down a lot (not bad but they kind of sound generic to me)

Damn, pretty disappointed with this off first listen at least.

Mainly cause of the production. Nothing comes close to Baking Soda. The rest just sound so unimaginative. Same formula - make a mildly decent loop and slap some drums on it. And the drums aren't even well selected imo, just busy, distracting and repetitive. Got exhausting very quickly.

And, nowhere near the same emotional weight, cohesiveness and atmosphere as LTST. That had you gripped and transported away straight off the intro.

Could have done with some features too.

Only on first listen rn but I’m with you I think

It’s a nice vibe but it’s more in a saba/smino/jid direction production wise rather than the super warm, evocative and emotional samples and flips from LTST

Yeah exactly. Some will like that direction, just not my thing, especially for a whole album.

The baking soda beat is extremely unique it got random lasers in it and s*** and drums that rock crazy with almost a lofi mix

First listen and i definitely agree that a whole album of this sound is just kinda underwhelming, i still enjoyed it off rip but not half as much as ltst was, that s*** was really special and still is. he needed some miracle baby level songs on this

That's what I meant by generic production. Sure, the sound design of Baking Soda is cool but it really made me realize we were gonna get this kind of album. A big disappointed for me even though I'll probably still spin it a lot

He needs an Alc collab album tbh

  • Oct 14, 2022

I am def gonna need to give this more than one listen to give my thoughts.
