two of the members are married right
yeah. they have tons of vaulted music since 97 its just never been released. seems like one of those things where everyone is happy right now coasting on tiktok royalties and vinyl reissues.
would be cool if they decided to do what Boa did and use the tiktok clout to drop new music and tour.
Idk if this counts but yall should listen to it

damn that’s actually very cool to hear
I’d of course love to see them but I like that they’re still making music behind the scenes for themselves
it is indie rock
its just their breakout mainstream album
It feels different to me than what i’d think of when hearing the term indie rock. So would you say they still made indie rock during TBHC then or where does it actually morph into something else for you?
This X1000000000
This album damn near birthed Solange as the musician we know today.

to me a lot of 2010s indie rock incorporate pop sensibilities - more specifically synth-pop n psych-pop and then some punk/midwest emo/folk here n there - that started majorly with interpol's turn on the bright lights n my morning jacket's z albums, i feel
i just think AM is a very fine tuned "commercial" version of that for the mainstream, but still "indie rock" in sound overall
bon iver, beach house, kings of leon, mgmt, arcade fire, tame impala, war on d****, washed out, lcd soundsystem, now now, melody prochet etc.
there are some more-traditional indie rock bands that were in the 2010s era too like carseat headrest, father john misty, sufan stevens etc. but imo the more "washed out", wavy, cloudy and airy sounds of the bands i mentioned above is what defined the 2010s indie rock genre and were in more abundance (and more popular)
the 2010s era of "indie rock" that branched off of stuff like interpol and my morning jacket or death cab for cutie and took their glitzy saturation washed out sound to an extreme level while "polishing" it up a bit and what then defined major label "indie rock"
AM is just a really mainstream version of the 2010s for indie rock. which there was a few other major band albums that also exploded indie rock in a major label polished and cleaned up mainstream sound such as arcade fire's middle years, tame impala's currents, bombay bicycle club's a different kind of fix, of monsters and men's my head is an animal etc.
and then that led to EXTREMELY poppy pre-teen stuff like local natives and 21 pilots that technically still falls under the indie rock umbrella and genre

i never talk out my ass or for nothing on here
and 2010s indie rock is one of my fav eras - i love that washed out shiny saturation and cloudy sound

Can you give me albums that sounds like Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino. One of my fav albums of all time probably the most underrated too.

The lil electronic spacey sounds mixed with the jazzy quirks >>>>
The hypnotic delivery and lyrics of Alex Turner >>>>
