He was massively overexposed before the pandemic. White Iverson dropped in 2015 and started everything. He dropped Stoney in 2016 and that blew up in 2017. Before 2017 was over, he has dropped Rockstar and Candy Paint. Beerbongs and Bentleys drops in 2018 and kills s*** and before 2018 is over, he drops Sunflower and Wow. Before he drops Hollywood's Bleeding in 2019, he drops Goodbyes and Circles. Circles carries him deep into 2020 before going recurrent in November that year. So he was on fire from 2015 when White Iverson dropped till the end of 2020. That's a very decent run because he scored 3 massive albums and multiple mega hit records in that time, more than most artists ever get. He was able to land a legit hit record on TCT with I Like You (and that's mostly thanks to radio) but everything post-pandemic has struggled to hit. Makes you wonder how another album from him will perform.

Post and his team know how to make a tune don't see how this won't be another top 10 hit for him

He had a wild 5 year run from 2015 until 2020 (maybe even 2021 because Hollywood’s Bleeding did well that year too). Him going silent pretty much the whole pandemic hurt his reputation, that why he was struggling with his latest album tbh

Hollywood's bleeding has some nice bops

Great album but he went full pop with that record so I can see why some people don’t f*** with it

this isn't even a bad song at all tbh but the subject matter makes it a sad listen for me personally

That's sad because I thought before it came out he said it was the album he's always wanted to make. He was fighting the label to release it after multiple delays and it flopped. I was rooting for him even tho it honestly sounded like another Post Malone album. Maybe they changed it and he wasn't happy with it. I remember they made him play it on ig live and he seemed bored

They definitely changed the album up and he wasn’t f***ing with it. He even accepted that this album isn’t doing well

For sure, even a few on TCT I enjoyed but personally nothing touches the enjoyment I got out of B&B. Such a fun album. Now it just seems too Tik Tok appealing. Can't say I enjoy this single much at all!

Was just reading an essay about Monument Valley being an expansive but isolating setting for classic western pictures. They are the admission of a manufactured persona that is Post Malone. It's a contradiction fitting for this song's bittersweet, upbeat confessions. Reaching out for the affirmation of another while trapped inside yourself. Alone, rendering human emotion down to its chemical process in front of a phony backdrop. These melodies are the beef flavoring they put on McDonalds fries. It's the aspartame in the diet soda. It's chemical.
