Need Drake on The Fall Off. was literally listening to Evil Ways this morning

    that song is gas

  • unfortunatetruth

I like Octavian but don't feel like he is that guy that is going to make him another hit

please no. it was vaguely nice to see someone actually get held accountable for being awful and drake had to go and uncancel him.

  • No Diddy

    that song is gas

i listen from local files and my music app has trouble with double albums. so the tracklist on there goes Daylight -> Evil Ways -> FPS and it's incredible.

usually it's terrible and i need to manually fix it lol

is it the downfall of music or the downfall of the album? When you spent money on albums they had to be worth the investment. Switching albums in a record or CD player was a time consuming endeavor so they needed to be consistent. Thus the existence of greatest hits records.

That changes in the digital age.

The idea that there is some sort of inherent value to albums is absurd. They were a marketing gimmick so that music was sold in bulk.

Music is good because it creates an emotional response. Not because Pitchfork and Fantano rates it highly. Not because the next 7 songs on the album were also all good. Not because it has a concept. If you want concepts read a book lmao

Awful viewpoint. Just because albums used to be a “marketing gimmick” doesn’t mean they still are. Times change and these days albums are literally crafted and sequenced for a particular reason. Tampering and deleting songs and being like “now it’s good!” ruins that.

I think the 100 GIGS songs flopping hurt his confidence pretty hard shortly after the beef was over

No Face isn't bad but in my opinion he released this song way too early. He should've simply taken a break in 2024

What Did I Miss? never felt authentic because he was never really gone but still tried to tell us "oh, I was gone, did I miss something?"

Which One was whatever and flopped and people already tapped out of the promo when he dropped DOG HOUSE

That is not what What Did I Miss?
    Is about

He’s talking about people he trusted turning on him… “you always felt like this man what did I miss?”

Uuuh albums became a medium inside music itself. It's a literal framework like a canvas. With albums being eroded by streaming and playlists, there is less effort put into albums across the board. It's an artform. Maybe you're right though, maybe times are changing again and we'll have to find a new meaningful way to consume music.

the Iceman production crew is insane man. O + Nyan + OZ + Harley + coleman + patron + the LAF boys + b4u + London Cyr + Fierce

i could go on... do not worry about production

OZ, Harley and LAF (Bass Charity) super valid, Coleman, London Cyr and Patron valid. Nyan production is not anything special, love his own recording work though. Octavian is not that guy. Fierce and B4U I don't really know much about. I thought Fierce was Boi1da's signee or ghostproducer.

Lol, this has got to be ragebait. GNX had samples but part of the production is picking them, chopping drum, drumming them...

Nyan production is insane lol he did Hours in Silence, Liability, etc.... his solo work is also crazy and he self prods/co prods it (see Dedication 6)

Octavian co prod Supermax so thats all i have to say. Fierce sound is very similar to 1da but slightly more modern and B4U is an up and coming british prod who just put out his own crazy album aswell.

Hours of Silence is crazy... maybe I'm wrong. OZ is the hitmaker of that group. I feel London Cyr is Drake's version of Wondagurl and Harley makes some crazy unique beats. LAF are insane sample makers too. Those are my favourite 4. I'm not convinced about Octavian though, I feel Drake just likes his writing for some reason, it's easy to tell when the verses are by him.

GNX was closer to literal lazy samples Even that “nights over Egypt” flip SOUNWAVE previewed wasn’t even chopped. Kendrick had arguably some of his least innovative production on GNX.

Gotta admit, cohesiveness matters on first listen, which is the most important

Yeah, it matters on the first listen, but most people aren't running back their favorite albums from track 1 to the last track after the first listen or the first couple of listens (which is my point). Ultimately, they'll only return to their favorite songs off the album the more time passes.

I know I’m in the minority here but I still spin albums front to back more than putting a playlist on shuffle or queuing specific songs
