who cares about production? its the stuff drake says that matters.

    Half of GNX was samples.

I know I’m in the minority here but I still spin albums front to back more than putting a playlist on shuffle or queuing specific songs

I still do that as well but only for certain albums that I deem damn near flawless. I'm speaking based on what I feel are the listening habits of the majority of people. Of course, there's always outliers lol.

Production is the least of Drake’s problems right now. if anything $$$4U was OVER-produced.

Uuuh albums became a medium inside music itself. It's a literal framework like a canvas. With albums being eroded by streaming and playlists, there is less effort put into albums across the board. It's an artform. Maybe you're right though, maybe times are changing again and we'll have to find a new meaningful way to consume music.

a meaningful way to listen to music? the meaningful way to listen to music is whatever you think it is. If you grew up in an era where albums were always long, you'd think a trend of short albums was a scam and a product of laziness.

If you were raised in an era of short albums you'd think a trend of long albums was boring and overwhelming to listen to.

Throughout these situations there is one thing that still exists: the music.

    out of interest, not quality.

drake’s singles dont have staying power, they have initial interest.

in fact, whats the last drake single to “bubble” to the top? And stay there?

idk now Nokia didn't get bigger

This could come Friday, vinyls through Amazon, next day delivery will count towards first week. Step on rocky, or next Friday. Anytime

The album would have to be finished for vinyl to have been produced already

cause drake didn’t actually have much to offer to the song. again, it was a verse and half of nothing-ness.

True, some artists do make a mass amount if they’re popular enough, I’m pretty sure that’s what Taylor does. Maybe Drake thinks he’s capable of doing the same?

Awful viewpoint. Just because albums used to be a “marketing gimmick” doesn’t mean they still are. Times change and these days albums are literally crafted and sequenced for a particular reason. Tampering and deleting songs and being like “now it’s good!” ruins that.

i'm confused what you're saying here. There can be expectations of quality for marketing gimmicks. That's why people want to buy them.

And what sort of authenticity is lost by deleting songs? every single musician, whether major label artists like Drake or Bruno Mars or small musicians like Jpegmafia or Geese, is selling you a product.

if anything, evaluating the product by the metric did this bring me joy to listen to seems purer than well I only liked 12 of the 16 songs which is a B in my personal grading system so now I describe it to other people as such

the latter view seems less based on engaging with the art and more on wanting to be a teacher or critic.

finally blocked some users so i won't have to worry about derailing the thread entirely every time i see nonsense.

I will say some people coming in here and being negative is the equivalent of a bad b**** acting up when her man isn't f***ing her right. If you're over here instead of in your own artist's section it is caused by some failing of said artist.

us here in drake section are getting (metaphorically) f***ed properly by Drake. and having seen it i have to say i am n-
