Because music and all art is made to be consumed. Consumption of music is how artist pay their bills. Creativity and consumption are two sides of the same coin. Can’t have one without the other
Streaming doesn’t pay anyone’s bills.
Pretty good deal. I also own all of my music. Can never be taken away or changed how streaming services can do to people (which threads get made about on here daily)
When someone is obsessed with owning media it sounds indistinguishable from doomsday preppers to me. You don’t own the means to generate electricity do you? How you gonna listen to all that music when they take that away from you? Better start investing in some solar panels and batteries.
glad to know your thoughts on abuse lol

Like holy s*** “we don’t listen to albums”
Look what streaming did.
I didnt say we dont listen to the albums, I said sometimes we just like a song and if it wasnt for streaming we would have to buy a full ass cd

Art is not made to be “consumed” lol
Art is not made to be “consumed” lol
There is no objective definition of art
You do not need access to all the music in the world.
No I also don’t need a coffee every morning or a good steak after a long day. Doesn’t mean I don’t want it or won’t appreciate it

bro never heard of solar power
Tell me when I won’t own my music
When the government bans all technology and sends the nukes
Streaming doesn’t pay anyone’s bills.
Definitely does. You just need a lot of them.

We’re in doomsday when it comes to art. I do own all my music television shows and films. Have a library in my basement.
Do not want to be dependent on a corporation and pay them forever.
You’re comparing me using an iPod for music to prepping for having no electricity?
Drake ❤️

Is that really your answer.

Like why u need vhs tapes. Good luck finding a vhs player in 2060

Mine isn’t a hypothetical. Corporations f*** with people’s music every day.
Art is not made to be “consumed” lol
There isn’t a single art form that doesn’t rely on consumption. Movies and shows are made to watched. Dances and plays are meant to be watched. Music is made to be listened to. Books and poems are meant to read. Games are made to be played. Any kind of expression is predicated on the audience on receiving it in its medium. Unless you believe artist everywhere throughout all of history made all their art without the belief that someone would consume it
There is no objective definition of art
I don’t think the production of art is a commodity is an inherent statement that can be made of it
And I believe that art that is made to be a commodity objectively loses a portion of its being because the artist relinquishes their agency and expression for the purpose of market value
Bro if you like the X album you can listen to it from 8 diff platforms without paying lmao
Okay.

Dude spent all his time on r/datahoarder but if it came down to to a real doomsday scenario wouldn’t know how to hunt or start a fire to actually survive and get to use the stuff he “owns” lol
