Lol so this whole thing popped off over a feature request. Drake tried to extend the olive branch and get Kendrick on FPS. He didn’t want to and/or wasn’t moving fast enough for Drake. So he gets Cole instead. So in Kendrick’s mind that’s a slight already getting another dude on the verse in our weight class.

Then when you hear the verse from Kendrick’s POV, I can see how that would be taken as a diss knowing this context. I think Drake vs. Kendrick was always going to happen but it turning into the spectacle it did from this is crazy. We dead ass could’ve had Drake ft. Kendrick and Cole on FPS and Kendrick would’ve murked that 1st beat

I mean on some real s*** gotta blame it on ego from both sides. Seems like it could’ve been solved with a call but these dudes not only have been going head to head in comparisons but have been shooting at each other for years. I don’t really put too much weight into the latter because honestly that’s just rap s***, I do think that it just boiled over and like Cole said it went way left. I do think a lot of the picture makes sense now. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if initially Drake got caught up like Cole did with how the online reception was going for Like That and then it just all spiraled from there

It’s actually crazy how much of a perfect storm that happened to make all this come to life the more we learn about it

• Drake trying to collab with Dot
• Drake pivoting to Cole leading to a #1 song and a joint tour
• Metro/Future rolling out an album at the same time with static for Drake
• Kendrick somehow getting the scoop on that and hopping on a song
• Like That goes crazy online and #1 hit
• Cole dropping a tape with a diss presumably planned for Dreamville Fest like ROTD3 which gives him a chance to bow out
• Drake presumably feeling like he has to respond at that point and the rest is history

Definitely ego. I’d say Drake would do the same. If Kendrick asked him for a verse but he didn’t do it in time or want to and got Cole instead, Drake would’ve dropped a record aimed at them too. Just crazy all the subs they threw at each other over the years and a feature request is what sparked this whole thing. I appreciate Cole giving that insight though. He put the puzzle together
