i think donda / CLB was the grand finale for that era of rap albums getting hyped up like they were blockbusters. people will still listen and i'm sure the album will at least pull in FATD numbers, but the vibes just aren't the same as they were. album drops mostly feel passive at this point.

also i'd argue drake dropping $$$4U kinda blunted the potential impact that his first post-beef album would have had. but i think it was a good move since it gave him a solid club hit which he very much needed at that point.
