Y'all really wouldn't pay an extra $5 a month to hear your FAVORITE artist's music?

A lot of Drake fans use Apple Music because he originally co-signed it

and have been using it now for over a decade with playlists, friends added, shared playlists, and their replays

the listener of 2014 is not the listener of 2026

If the streaming service is all OVO artists or all Canadian artists that might be more enticing

    Drake
    PND
    Neil Young

Right, but I feel like the listener of 2026 is way more diehard than the listener of 2014

I was theorizing that Drake is diverse enough and popular enough to start his own app solely for his own music (or maybe his music plus OVO artists/other handpicked artists)

Bro people just listen to the one with the interface they like the most where they’ve already purchased content

Apple Store been around longer than Spotify tidal or anyone else

    Spotify I hate ui
Tidal is solid but higher prices

    YouTube premium I love

Instead of making his own streaming service (so dumb)
He should sign exclusively with Apple Music for a trillion dollars

I’m sure they would write up a sweetheart deal to keep him on Apple Music exclusively

I know this isn’t what some people want to hear but streaming music for people both general consumers and people who have an inclined interest in music has been relatively inflation-proof relative to what you get for your dollar. I know there are a lot of conversations pros and cons about streaming but generally speaking it’s an inexpensive barrier of entry for people especially in this economy. Love to support my favorite but my preference is through physical releases or ticket sales. I hesitate against everyone moving to a “stream through me for exclusives” because it seems almost like the current tv landscape. I feel like people overlook how much early DSPs tried this in some capacity and they backtracked rather quickly

Nah . People ideally don’t like using multiple streaming services . Maybe for exclusive , pre release demos when though eventually everything gets ripped .

Should artist aim to operate outside of greedy owners yes but that’s what tidal was supposed to be then it was so much that daft punk blew up
