Haven't we been over this? I don't remember what you specifically have said but itt I've seen:

"Russia is actually winning the war"

"NATO expansion is the cause of the war"

"The war is about protecting Russian speaking minorities in the east"

    and worst of all

    "Nazis in Ukraine"

    I don’t believe that

Misconstrued version of what I’ve said

    Not what I’ve said

And yes, there is state sponsored nazism in Ukraine. This has been documented for over a decade since Euromaiden

    Good

    Not talking about you specifically

    I know, that was scratchin

Assuming that's true, why are you talking about it at all though in the context of a Russian invasion? As if that means they shouldn't defend their country? The principle here is sovereignty.

It's been months since this war began and people itt still think socialism thread supports Russia because we're not ready to bend the knee to Zelensky and praise NATO for being such benefactors

    Meanwhile:

I will say commies on this site could do better to hold a consistent critical position on the Russian govt, because clearly it has been misconstrued.

Like even I get why some people are getting the vibe that some posters support Russia over Ukraine, if you only saw those talking points about ukr having (neo)nazis in their military (which they do),

No one should be stanning either country.

I know yall have seen plenty of people cheering on the war cause they picked sides like its a football game but thats f***ing bogus.

    S*** needs to end.

Unfortunately all the big powers are figuring out how to finesse off this s*** so it's not as simple as "End the war guys everything back to normal"

s*** is about to shift like crayz (and is currently shifting)

    f*** a war

I believe the Ukrainian people have the right to defend themselves, but the existence of state sponsored Nazism creates many issues for the legimitacy of their defense. So many that the manner in which the current state of Western intervention and the Government’s own policy present themselves cannot earn my support.

The government is reinforcing anti democratic rhetoric and the west is well aware it’s shipping thousands of arms to radicalized militias in the midst of a warzone to create a forever war. That is even worse than a Russian steamroll

It was one of the main points Russia made as the reasoning for the war.

So it was going to be brought up at some point...

I'll be honest though if Ukraine wasn't handling their Nazi problem, who would?

Like that's my difficulty here is, I don't think that was justification for an invasion and especially not a full-blown war,

But simultaneously I'm thinking what sort of country allows openly nazi members with their patches visible on their jacket in their military

It screams to me that "We're desperate enough that we excuse racism and genocidal ideology because we need the troops"

Which is a horrific place to be in

    S*** is f***ed.

To me, this still doesn't justify violence on Russian or Ukrainian citizens but what we all should know by now is war doesn't care about the rules

Letting Russia take over Ukraine is not going to help the Nazi problem. The Russians have a lot of Nazis themselves. Allowing them to continue their cultural drift toward the West will. The way to do that is to ensure their independence.

    1. I agree with the first sentence

    2. Unfortunately the West has a right wing extremist problem too so I can't really believe in that type of guarantee.

    3. They do deserve independence fr though.

The countries getting involved in this have me wondering what is this setting the stage for after this specific conflict?

What is being set up to happen next?

It's probably not going to go how either of us wishes it would.

That's a good question. If things go well for Ukraine and they try to take back Crimea, s*** could get spooky real quick.

This war is already nearing a decade old and the western position is becoming untenable (due to their own insolence) while the Russians can’t deliver a decisive blow

This will bog down into low level insurgences and Russian irregulars/SF while the Russians continue providing air

It's already spooky but what's worse is that given enough well-done or even half-baked propaganda this s*** will turn to WW3 with a lot of support if the countries convince their people "We're the good guys! Yeah thats about 3 Trillion on those planes, send it! Top GUN BABYYYY"

I'm more convinced its going to develop into a larger conflict than settle down.

You mean the Ukrainian position? That remains to be seen.

But what you’re describing at least ensures Ukraine has sovereignty and continues to exist.

TBH yeah u might be right, this s*** going to die down in news coverage and magnitude so the war machine can milk it and suck the blood for years

It seems like the American public is against it (and I do support sending and spending money like it’s no ones business on this stuff) but that was the case in the first two world wars. My concern is that one day Putin decides he can’t be embarrassed anymore and lets off a tactical nuke. He is already being attack from the right in light of the advances Ukraine made in the last few days.

  • Sep 10, 2022

It'll be like COV1D, people just got tired of taking precautions if they ever did in the first place so it'll disappear, no one will give a f*** anymore because they were waiting until they didn't have to pretend anymore like they cared about others, and it could easily be drawn out more and more.

Not to mention they been playing games around those f***ing nuclear plants already.

Guarantee if Putin threatens nuclear Biden is gonna match his s*** and we're boom confirmed back in another nuclear arms race

That being said idk if he'd go that far

But with how quickly he went to fund more policing in the country, especially after the 2020 protests, I wouldn't really completely put any harmful action past him.

There’s also the potential of someone more extreme coming into power. Probably not anytime soon but if Russia continues to perform poorly for a while.

We have held a consistent, critical position. If people really want to see socialists with an identity crisis, they can go on /r/GenZedong and see how much better KTT leftists fare.

We don't like Russia, but we also don't like Ukraine, and while Russia is the aggressor and we have continually criticized them for being so, it's also f***ing paramount that we recognize NATO's and the Ukrainian nationalists' intentions with this conflict.

There's only one side itt being blind to the facts of the case and rather than understand that it's not a good idea to send billions of dollars worth of arms to a country that isn't quite stable for the umpteenth time, they wanna beat the drums like the warhawks they are.

That being said, yes people get too into the s***posting and that might come off as pro-Russia, I agree, but it's ironic and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Their intentions are not Ukrainian independence

They want Russia in Ukraine for as long as possible without either side having a foothold to grind down the economy and create dependence in both country

    Continued dependence is continued profit
