if they wanted to more persuasively make the case for enlisting they should have shown the haunting spectre of a pension fund financed bridge being built.

Don't think this is a surprise to anyone but they saying now they don't think the offensive will be a success anymore. Kinda ridiculous they seriously thought they'd cut the land bridge in a quick offensive but that's besides the point

I got the sense this news was going around to congress at least cus the co-chair of the Ukraine committee in Congress randomly said earlier today it was failing and that he's not sure anymore if the war is winnable.

    Pretty classic American pessimism

it's a great shame but it's looking like this is true

should have given fighter jets and atacms

regardless, russia failed to take Kyiv, and ukraine got back 50% of what they lost. it's not a victory in the war but it's something. shows this kind of f***ery won't run without a fight and that's something we should all be proud of

    Tens of thousands dead Ukranians

that was inevitable whether they were given f***ing pea shooters, nerf guns or nothing instead

i dont know what part of the ukrainian response has people thinking that rolling over would lead to a more peaceful settlement, the ukrainians had zero intent of standing down and would have kept fighting all the way to the polish border

the russians wanted the entire black sea coast, donbass in full and a puppet president in kyiv. would not have been handed over like that

also how many people do you think would die when after winning in ukraine, the russians try for Moldova in the following few years. then once theyre done with moldova they annex belarus. then once nato has shown itself to be totally unable to stand against russian aggression and the alliance becomes functionally inoperable, they have a go at lithuania, then ltvia and estonia- then poland

we learned what happens when you try appease in the 1930s. never again

because when a nearby country gets invaded the first thing you think about when trying to stop it is what ideology this falls under

completely out of step with reality

You really need to understand the only reason Russia invaded is because the US overthrew ukraine government. Russia doesn't have the resources to compete with the CIA.

you are delusional, weird and wrong. this isn’t it at all, maidan happened organically. the US had an opinion on the ideal successor but that s*** was Yanukovych’s fault. please return to reality and stop embarassing yourself

There were multiple proposed peace deals

all of them were f***ing terrible and would result in another conflict

    also to illustrate:

In the poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) between 13 and 18 May 2022, 82% of Ukrainians said they did not support any territorial concessions to Russia, even if that meant prolonging the war.140 Another KIIS poll conducted in September 2022 found that 87% of Ukrainians opposed any territorial concessions to Russia.141 A Gallup poll conducted in Ukraine in early September 2022 showed that 70% of Ukrainians want to continue the war with Russia until they achieve victory, while only 26% favor negotiations to end the war as soon as possible.142 According to an opinion poll conducted in July 2022, 58% of Ukrainians said that Crimea must be returned to Ukraine.[99

because they saw an opening due to ukraine being in disarray so moved to protect their interests. russia has always wanted a subservient ukraine. if they can’t have that they’ll grab what they need. imperialism

if the cia had zero involvement at all the same thing would have happened.

if school bully wants your lunch money you don’t give him half you beat the s*** out of him so he doesn’t f*** with you ever again

You shouldn't say the third paragraph or sentences similar to it if you want to be taken serious by adults. If russia would want a weaker Ukraine they could have done it in 2010. Why not?

Yanukovych was their guy. he wanted to align with europe, so russia punished ukraine with gas restrictions.

yanukovych reneged on alignment with europe. this prompted euromaidan

they had no reason to strike earlier because in 2010 it was looking like they would never even have to

yes that’s exactly what i said. reading comprehension 100

there was no alternative to euromaidan. the americans didn’t even see it coming. euromaidan would have happened in any timeline other than one in which ukraine was allowed to move towards europe. another point: Yanukovych only won his election on a rigged vote anyway

it’s basically all the fault of russia. it’s hard to swallow this pill but that’s pretty much it. the west did not cause this conflict.

all those deaths are tragic but could be avoided if ukraine was left alone to begin with.

When CIA coups your country to erase any russian influence, sparking an actual war it's good and liberating. We just need to kill more so we can have the biggest flag on the ground! How does anyone in Ukraine, outside of the oligarchy, benefit from this?

you’re choosing to believe it’s a cia coup because it being an organic expression of the ukrainian people damages your assumptions about the world
