hey i didn’t call you a rapist - i said you wish you were off doing it. you might not be cheering on war, but you get a kick out of repeatedly denying verified atrocities. you doubted the plausibility of sexual assault induced injuries to women as ridiculous and fake when any student of medicine could tell you enough trauma could cause that horrifying effect, as one example.

it’s funny you talk about projection. nice jungian psychology term. let me introduce you to another jungian idea called ‘shadow integration’. i’m a lucky guy who has never known the atrocity of war, however i also know that we all have the potential to do terrible things, and sometimes it could be necessary. perhaps you’d do well to get to know yourself.

i have also never in my life lived in london

The interethnic conflicts, economic devastation, uprising in fascism, and spikes in addiction/gang violence/abuse/suicide that precipitated post-shock treatment, would allude to as much

Yes Putin is part of that problem too. But the breakup of the Soviet Union made any problems under the USSR much worse and birthed a host of new ones

  • Sep 7, 2023

Imagine thinking American capitalist unipolarity is a good thing lol

The last 32 years have been f***ing nightmare fuel

i mean breakup of the soviet union itself is a different kettle of fish

end of the iron curtain was an unparalleled hood

‘geopolitical catastrophe’ implies it was a catastrophe for everyone and not just the soviet union. Baltics, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia etc are doing pretty well and didn’t have that bad of a transition to capitalism

I am willing to meet you in the middle and say that the Soviet Union did not need to remain as is, and the republics within it could have established their own sovereign governments outside of Bolshevik influence. And I also acknowledge that Poland and Hungary were done dirty by the Soviets as well.

The total abandonment of Soviet socialism in whatever mangled form it was in by the 1980s has been a catastrophe for the entire planet. The amount of countries that fell and were terrorized by the west, and are still being terrorized by the west, in the aftermath of socialism nearly dying in the 90s, the wars, brutality, and hatred that that collapse thrust our entire species into, was a complete catastrophe. If the state needed to break up, I don't care, but the abandonment of socialism was a trainwreck for the majority of people on Earth

    There we go.

I'm not gonna shill for statecraft but I'll shill for feeding the children. Certain reforms should and could have been made but the entire socialist system being completely destroyed was not good for the overwhelming majority of folks involved. And the beast of western imperialism that was unleashed after the fall in places like South Asia, South America, and Africa was horrifying. Frankly, strictly in terms of economics, the way Belarus approached their economy would have been a practical path forward, and if more ex-republics did that, I'd at least like to think some of the political oppression in the country would lessen as a safety measure for the state and its people, albeit a corrupted safety measure. Guaranteed employment, free college and healthcare, public ownership of productive means, and a strong government to keep private capitalism in check, and doing all of this without the use of imperial plunder, are all very good things.
