Russia might not invade at all, it's all speculative
But if they did I doubt they'd want the whole thing
Its cruel for the people living in the DPR and LPR but its in Russias interest to prolong the conflict along the eastern borders without a real resolution for as long as possible
As long as the territory is disputed Ukraine can not enter NATO because it would immediately trigger article 5
Invasion of Ukraine with flagged Russian troops has zero benefit for Russia
It would give NATO the excuse it needs to park an airbase as close to its borders as it could. Ive been following this stuff for a long time it will not happen
Ukraine is flat as a pancake
There's no way in the event of a Russian invasion (which isn't guaranteed), ukraine could hold them back
Quite likely they'd take the east, completely crush Ukrainian military and get a land bridge to crimea
It's a horrifying situation that causes me great anxiety. I beg russia doesn't invade, and to be honest I beg thus never happened. There's thousands of human lives at stake
Moreover, ukraine is unlikely to defended by anyone. It matters more to Russia than it does to rhe west, and wars are poisonous in democratic States. Public opinion won't have it.
The best bet if the invasion happens (which it might not) is to get Sweden and Finland into nato, and prevent this potential scenario happening again
You are INSANE if you think Russia wants to invade Ukraine
What do they gain? Ukraine is an economic s*** hole... they would have to maintain power over a mostly hostile population... theyd get hit with Iran levels of sanctions
Thankfully Putin is too smart to draw his country into what would be their version of Vietnam
I remember reading Ukraine would give Russia some type of power over Western Europe. Not sure what that means tho

Russia invading Ukraine doesn't mean they want a new Afghanistan/Vietnam.
think more about Georgia 2008, when Russia secured in a few days Ossetia and Abkhazia

good article by renowned russia and ukraine expert taras kurzio, framing russian ambitions as imperial and motivated by terrirotiral desires
Warning: article takes clear anti russian government line
Crimea was different. It was a rating boost after huge 2011-2012 protests. It shouldn’t have been done, but most Russians/Crimeans were supporting it and tbh it was done clean. No shooting, no bodies.
No one would support a whole ass war because of nothing. Putin’s ratings are at their historic low now, dead teenagers will not bring it up
Like all them mfs have children and their wealth in nato countries they ain’t starting s***

you're russian ?
yeah
ok. i personally believe that russia will act soon because it's a now or never type of situation.
in a few years Ukraine will have enough forces (economically and military) to join definitively the western block and it will be too late for Russia to act
but that's just my opinion
Sweden happy to train Ukrainian troops
Denmark provided a fund for armament
Britain has sent anti-tank weaponry to Ukraine
