after world war 2 the world retooled its entire global infrastructure and became globalized, and as opposed to being empire-based it became a rules-based global order system. In 1944 Bretton Woods happens. 1946 was the United Nations. 1947 was the general agreement on tariffs and trades. 1949 was NATO. 1950 was the European Union. These are the superinfrastructure of the world that we’ve all grown up in. This is the centralized power of globalization. And that was all put in place to avoid what had happened in the past (ww1&ww2)

the conclusion of the war brings euphoria and 78 million americans are born in the span of 20 years, a 40% population increase - creating the largest demand shock the world has ever seen. the scene after World War 2 as such, is a massive demographic, technological, manufacturing, economic growth boom with huge fiscal stimulus included. America was the epicenter of that golden age and all of this rules-based global order architecture was built around America and its globalized ambitions. America had the military might and exercised it in suez, korea, vietnam, ongoing etc. this is the benefit of being number 1, you get to play outside the rules and no one else does.

meanwhile putin has stopped playing along with endless talk and diplomatic negotiations - discussions all taking place in the arena of an american dominated rules-based system - and instead acted on the Kosovo precedent set by the US itself, and drawn a line in the sand. will America cross it? China, India and Brazil have not condemned Russia's actions. the EU market zone is busy dismantling their 5G network, energy infrastructure, and even nominal state autonomy while the US is increasing efforts to maintain power and influence.

the anglos have overplayed and edged russia along the way of orthodoxy, autocracy, autarky, western hostility and nationality. the international regime is changing and the stage is set for a tellurocratic union between russia and china, bringing american hegemony closer to its end as we continue towards an eventual showdown between the West and Eurasia

    interesting times

"after world war 2 the world retooled its entire global infrastructure and became globalized, and as opposed to being empire-based it became a rules-based global order system."

    literally american propaganda

the world after ww2 was just as imperial, its just that one entity was so powerful that their rules eventually became the world's rules. you even say it in the second paragraph. we didnt switch to a different kind of international system, the US just conquered the world lol

after the end of ww2, the US had something like 40% of the world's oil production and 60% of the world's industrial output. they used that to establish their own international institutions and made strategic allies rich while keeping potential opponents or nuisances poor. America never "bent the rules" when it used military action, they were literally made for the US to do such things.

What changed was the discovery of new sources of energy. Btw the world economy was always globalized, here's the trade routes of the 11th century

And here's the trade routes of the 13th century

ofc it's not true, but what's interesting is that this is what Russia is saying

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. Russia is willing to provide military assistance to the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in the event of a threat, but at the present time there is no question of sending troops there, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told reporters on Tuesday.

"Military assistance is provided by the treaty. But let’s not speculate. No one is going to introduce anything yet. If there is a threat, then we will provide assistance in accordance with the ratified treaties," Rudenko said.

The situation along the line of engagement in Donbass escalated on the morning of February 17. The Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics reported the most intensive bombardments by the Ukrainian military in recent months. On February 18, the leaders of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics (LPR and DPR), Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin, announced the evacuation of the republics’ inhabitants to Russia, citing the mounting threat of hostilities. An all-out mobilization was announced in the republics on February 19.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 21 declared that Russia recognized the sovereignty of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics. Treaties on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance were signed with their leaders.

Putin talked about a "peacekeeping operation". Which is technically not the same thing as sending troops/army lol

But Western countries said it was Russian propaganda and talked about troops entering the country

I mean peacekeeping can still be troops being sent into the region and I thought that's what was being reported by the media directly, not just Western governments, but Russia saying they're not sending any at all?

    This is way too confusing

yeah this is quite confusing tbh

because Putin talked directly about sending "peacekeeping forces". this is not media reports, this is what he directly said

lot of contradictory statements from the Russian camp
