Studio execs are being s***heads and don't wanna pay writers so they're threatening to use AI

Writers are not being fairly compensated for their work, most aren’t making enough money to live off of.
Meanwhile execs are making hundreds of millions of dollars a year

Long story short, writers and actors have been negotiating with the group of the major movie and streaming studios for a new contract. With the shift to streaming, most of the terms of their old contracts are not up to date and have resulted in the writers and actors making less money for their work.
Many of the actors and writers who are a part of SAG-AFTRA and the WGA are not rich. Many of them still work second jobs in order to make ends meet.
On top of the money issue, the studios are wanting to use A.I. to write scripts and replace the use of real background actors. With this, the studios could use someone's likeness in perpetuity. They could use someone's image without consent and without paying them. Taking jobs from people and making things even more fake and corporate.
Executives on the other hand are making money hand over fist and they really don't need to. For example, Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, makes over 70k A DAY. Some SAG-AFTRA members don't even make the required $26,000 yearly threshold to get health insurance.
Also, this strike, combined with the possible UPS strike at the end of this month, and many other strikes throughout the US looks to be the beginning of a bigger labor movement. Hopefully all of this can result in all workers being fairly compensated and unions becoming the norm once again.

He p**** footing. If all the big actors agreed to get pay cuts with the executives then I think a good push towards an agreement would happen.
