Looking like things are mostly going the WGAs way

Give them what they want. Let’s get back to work

I mean the minimum tv staff thing is bs

  • It's a tough situation, I can see both sides and IDK what the actual best solution is.

Hopefully the WGA can come up with something that prevents writers from getting f***ed, while also allowing guys that prefer to write a show entirely by themselves to continue working that way.

    Not necessarily

They’ve been trying to get to an agreement since the strikes started months ago

    Doesn’t mean it’ll happen

  • Aug 24, 2023

it's crazy to me that this s*** isn't wrapped up yet. like is it that hard to give actors and writers what they ask for.. they're not even asking for much.

It isn't just the writing, they want to be able to use the faces of any actor in perpetuity without paying them. Taking it a step further - if they have enough faces they can essentially use AI to make "new" people/actors. Same thing with voices, you can already see it with the fake AI versions of e.g. Drake,Trump, Biden etc.

Then you have to extrapolate out further. Eventually they'll want to automate as much of the cinematography, SFX, music, overall sound engineering as well. The long term thinking from these studios is that AI will do 95% of the work, they'll pay the remaining workforce absolute s*** and keep the rest of the money for themselves. If AI can do all of that then there won't be much needed to spend on shooting locations/studios as well.

They assume people will continue spending at the rate that they do now for entire slates of AI made films. Essentially these studios have turned into tech companies but their greed is so out of control they don't realize that they are going to kill themselves going this route.
