CDPR really just had The Witcher 3 to be fair

Witcher 1 was archaic even when it came out and 2 was just ok

Witcher 2 was universally acclaimed and won a lot of awards too, to be fair. That’s part of why there was a lot of hype leading up to the 3rd game

Every game wins awards these days. I dunno about "universally acclaimed" either. General reception was "it's good". Things didnt blow up until part 3.

It received mostly 9/10 and 10/10s across the board

88 on metacritic which is really f***ing good, for reference Witcher 3 has a 92 which is only 4 points higher

Maybe. I dont really remember anyone going hard for the Witcher til the last one.

There was insane hype when Witcher 2 dropped, and it was one of the highest rated games that year, you can google it

It was 10 years ago so I guess people forgot, and Witcher 3 overshadowed it by being better in every way
