ok so this game is like Bioshock and Half Life combined. cool concept and aesthetic, but it’s wearing its influences on its sleeve so far

As the developers both said, prey and bioshock are both spiritual sequels to system shock which has a lot of half life vibes

if you dont feel the Bethesda yet keep going
the influences would be annoyingly obvious without the signature Bethesda gameplay elements
plus the overall theme is diff from Bioshock and Half Life themes but still similar in terms of the genre being sci-fi and mystery

Bethesda didn’t make this game lol they’re just the publisher
This is an Arkane game, and Arkane said it’s a spiritual successor to shock games so it’s supposed to feel like bioshock/system shock
Also system shock (1994) was hugely influential on half-life (1998)
I didn’t really feel any Bethesda qualities other than maybe the insane amount of optional missions (like 30 or more I think) and SPOILER alternate endings and paths

and yet Prey and Dishonored are closer to Skyrim and Fallout than any 4 of those are to Doom and Wolfenstein
it cant just be me that thinks Arkane makes games with a Bethesda feel and then Bethesda publishes the games so..
the lore everywhere, the grabbable items, the inventory menu and a few other things felt very Bethesda to me lol
none of those specific things reminded me of HL2 or Bioshock or System Shock but EVERYTHING else about Prey feels inspired by them though, it's like a big mashed up game with elements from some of the best 2000s and early 2010s games

prey and dishonored personally feel closer to system shock and bioshock than anything else
other than the sheer quantity of optional missions what stands out as being the fallout/Skyrim elements?
The inventory menu is from Deus Ex which is another game that’s a spiritual successor in the family of shock games

edited my post, the lore laying around everywhere, alll the grabbable items, the ones u can loot and the inventory menu and even how the first person movement feels
Obsidian is another studio that either introduced a lot of these elements to Arkane and/or Bethesda or they all value them equally as important elements of their games

the inventory menu is actually from system shock and Deus Ex which are in this family of games (same creator)
I guess lore wise it is similar to bioshock and fallout
the jet pack movement is similar to power armor in fallout 4 I guess never thought about that

bioshock mechanics are way different imo and the world design but maybe its just been too long, played 1 and 2 on PS3 back in late 2000s
admittedly never played System Shock
Half Life 2 is dope tho and the only comparable parts for me are the story elements and like what the actual game is, graphic style in Prey is like Valve mixed with Bethesda too

system shock remake coming in 2021 you better play
prey has the atmosphere of half life but yeah not a lot of direct elements

not the lore genre, but how there is so much lore just laying around in the game
Bethesda is one of the only publishers to sell games with that much lore available
The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and The Outer Worlds also have a lot too though but those are all post 2015
