I want Refn to do a commercial movie again his art style good but his stories are mixed and people dont give them a chance

i love nightcrawler and all but honestly roberts performance is just as good as jakes to me

i will say nightcrawler is the overall better film tho

Saw this last night. Pattinson leading man era needs to end right now.

if you think their performances are close I respect that opinion even if I disagree. But part of why I disagree is because the writing of what makes him that character in nightcrawler and his development into the climax is much better than whats present here.

I just don’t think he has it. He’s best in supporting roles that allow him to be goofy and charismatic.

When he does that schtick over the course of a full movie, it becomes overbearing. Jim Carrey but bad.

And when he has to play more of a straight man, I feel like he lacks the gravitas to do that in an engaging way, he’s just there, existing. Tenet innocent.

Yeah it’s far better. Mostly because I think that film is making the exact same point this one is making but is picking a far more glaring target to go at

You think this performance wasnt good I guess is what I am asking? I think it at times again was a better Joker impersonation. I dont know if Oppenheim recommended he make it this zany probably did but again the whole movie feels like Oscar bait more than a movie trying to deliver a point home.

Good time and High Life prove this wrong

Nightcrawler has great reviews even higher rated than this movie one oscar nomination for best screenplay

Whew if I agree with rustcohlestan2 maybe I am wrong and should change my entire opinion

But I do agree. Pattinson essentially picks leading male characters with the substance of a supporting role. I think it works well in a couple movies but generally he doesn’t do a whole lot beyond gimmicky flourishes like accents and some quirks

I mean out of his current group he still high up there of movie stars but I dont think highly of a lot of this group so what do I know

boy and the heron great voice work. Mickey 17 he really was great even if movie mixed

I think Oppenheim he begged robert to star in this to further his own career which is deeply ironic there is the scene of Hansen with his decoy getting him drunk

This movie being his fist major movie is his whale.

If he had to start with an original picture not based on someone controversial life its an uphill battle.

We all in for you can see everything but again controversial person documentary see their life sprinkle in nathan fielder

using nathan and robert for his own gain and accolades that are 100% coming .
