Fair play to Tony.
WWE wouldn’t let one of their guys show up on Dynamite and not have them be referred to as a WWE Superstar.
And it wouldn’t matter if WWE did it because AEW aren’t even competition, remember?
When Punk signs with NJPW
Punk was moving like a wounded deer at the best of times in AEW.
A match with Naito would cripple him. His body can’t do it at that level no more.
But in all honesty for a show that’s missing 4 of its biggest guys. Dynamite has still been a solid show.
I’m fine with it.
We got the full Punk comeback and return to the world title.
And then he went back to the same antagonistic s*** he’s done backstage at every other company he’s worked at.
We got our “what if” question answered, he got a big payday and now he can spend the rest of his days on his couch thinking everyone else is the a****** and not him.
as someone who liked what Punk was doing onscreen in AEW...yeah...he had his chance and blew it unfortunately...still a wild way to go out running down the company in a media scrum while eating muffins with your boss right next to you
From WON:
Ace Steel, real name Chris Guy, was released on 10/17 due to the situation at All Out. His wife was never spoken to for the investigation.
AEW currently is in talks to buy out the remainder of CM Punk's contract, and Dave says this suggests that they are not looking to bring him back.
There is an issue with the non-compete. Dave says this being an issue means obviously they don't want him going to WWE as that's the only other company that can pay him the amount he was getting.
Dave goes into several different scenarios regarding the optics of Punk going to WWE, and how even though WWE was very negative on him in the past and didn't get him when FOX pushed for him, they might now because they didn't realize just how much he meant to the fanbase prior to his AEW debut, and getting Punk even now while he's injured and won't be able to wrestle for several months just for appearances would be a major coup for them.
AEW and Punk didn't comment or deny any of this.
Sentiment in AEW is decidedly anti-Punk.
Punk hasn't actually had any contact with WWE but is said to be close with Adam Pearce and Paul Heyman who have some pull there.
So the negotiations seem to be about TK willing to pay out Punk’s contract but he wants a no-compete added to stop him going straight to WWE.
Would be f***ing hilarious if he runs back to HHH after all the s*** he heaped on him.

The power in AEW’s always come from the mission statement and not the weaponry.
It’s why WWE had pretty much everyone who was worth hiring hired from 2013 to 2019 and the shows were still dog s***.

Tony’s the biggest part to blame for it too.
He brought him in, gave him the world and even gave him an office job and didn’t stop to think of the dude’s history and perhaps maintain a employer/employee relationship instead of wrestler and fan.
Does this mean we’re getting a “January 27, 2014…I left sports entertainment…” promo from him?
I’m sure NDAs are gonna keep people from talking but I’m curious to know what else went down

it's actually astounding how perfectly it worked with the storytelling on AEW...MJF, Eddie, and Hangman all talking about the mask Punk was wearing coming off eventually...and then it actually falls off and he loses his mind and starts swinging on EVP's...all over Scott f***in Colton

if Punk had an office role I gotta believe he was butting heads with Omega and the Bucks behind the scenes well before he blew up at that media scrum...seems like it was building up for awhile and Punk was just...different...when he came back from injury...Nash mentioned it too how prior to that he was putting over everyone and seeming super humble and then the attitude changed

Can't take this seriously until SRS tweets about having big Punk news behind his paywall

That All Out scrum made me think more that he was involved with Cabana’s disappearance just due to the venom he had for the guy.
It was incredible.

And it will just be him confirming Meltzer’s report.

"these guys are stepping on their own d***s" - guy stepping on his own d***

And now he’ll go to WWE and probably f*** that bag up again just because he won’t be able to eat crow about all the s*** talking he did about people there.
Roman’s made it clear multiple times how much he doesn’t f*** with Punk.

I think it was partly premeditated (him bringing up Colt in the scrum) but I feel like getting reinjured in the Moxley match set him off and knowing he'd be out for months-a year again he just said f*** it and went off...he probably knows deep down he's getting too old for this s***

I would have to think that they feared for their “office jobs” since TK kinda stripped away their duties but who knows that’s just me speculating lolol

He flat out said it was premeditated when he tried to get that reporter to say some s*** about Cabana and the reporter said they weren’t friends and blew up his whole premise to that s***fit.
I also find it very sad that men in their 30s-40s can’t get along in a company where they only see each other for 2-3 hours a week.

egos lol especially when they're throwing shots on live TV

The fact that Punk’s getting bought out makes me think they’ve never been in danger and TK knows who’s faction name is on the brand.
It would have been the easiest decision for me if I was him. Imagine if he s***can the Elite and then Punk just started the same s*** with someone else. There’s no way you could ever trust him with a live mic again after that media scrum.
