Everyone knew Rampage on a Friday was a death slot. I don’t see why anyone would want to waste huge matches on a 10pm on a Friday. Nothing else would do better on that time slot either way.

Should just convince tnt to do trial runs of a ROH branded show

So why would TK take that time slot for a new start up show if everyone knew it was gonna fail? Lol

It’s hilarious because they act like they were the only ones in the world making wrestling into a mainstream pop culture icon at that point.

Around the time of Hulkamania the Crush Girls in Japan were getting higher ratings then Stone Cold ever got.

Rikidōzan was doing 87.0 and 67.0 ratings with Lou Thesz and The Destroyer when the highest ever rating Vince had got was a 15.2.

El Santo was such a huge pop culture phenomenon in Mexico that he became a movie star, dude made 30+ movies of him playing himself fighting Warner Bros monsters. It was a golden age of Lucha Libre in terms of attendance and ratings.

Even in America, Vince just barely scraped by Jim Crockett. Starrcade was the first ever wrestling event shown on closed circuit television around the entire United States. Jim was breathing down Vince’s neck at that point. It was because of that first Starrcade that Vince gambled on WrestleMania. Also JCP’s attendances were doing 5,000 to 10,000 a night from 83-87 which was easily on the same level if not more then what Vince Jr. was getting when he got the pencil from daddy dearest.

So it’s flat out propaganda at this point.

At this point it serves to add more content and time to performers.

Can you imagine how much more the usual suspects would be whinging about certain people not getting tv time without it? They’re only talking about the Rampage ratings in bad faith.

WarnerDiscovery are more then happy with Rampage’s numbers at that time because there’s nothing else they have that would do higher numbers in that slot.

  • Never heard of a tv company being happy about a show losing 800k viewers in less than a year since the debut lol

Mfs will pull anything out of their ass to defend AEW lol

There was talks of them getting a secondary program for ages before the TBS move got decided on so I doubt it’s that.

I’m not sure but either way, why take the time slot if you “know” it’s not going to do good and then proceed to half ass book the show lol

They acting like trying to make more money to grow and keep the tv network happy makes them WWE 2.0.
