Is Vince McMahon "running the show in the shadows?"
If it could not be any clearer, Vince McMahon is not in control of WWE.

After several conspiracy theories among fans and some pundits that Vince McMahon was still running the show or "pulling the strings," several higher ups in WWE constantly reiterated to Fightful during Summerslam week that wasn't the case. In fact, one WWE source had indicated WWE Raw would be a "statement" show for that reason, and establish who is running the show.

"If Vince McMahon was still involved to any degree, neither Summerslam or WWE Raw would have resembled what they looked like. Dakota would not have been brought back, Raw would have been several Summerslam rematches," one WWE higher up said.

Those that we heard from said that Triple H already has worked to make the environment better backstage. Both on background and explicitly, Fightful was told that Vince McMahon has no say in day-to-day or creative anymore, and there have been rumors of him even having limited access to gaining information about the ongoing process itself.

There are a number of people within the company that also confirmed to Fightful that there are situations that normally they'd need to wait on their bosses to get clearance from Vince for, and that has not been the case since he retired.

We've also heard that Vince may have limited access to WWE facilities at this time, but haven't confirmed that.

We're told that Kross was adamant outside of WWE that Scarlett remain a part of his presentation, to the point he passed up an AEW match with Wardlow. He didn't want his presentation moving forward to be reminiscent of the Raw run that left a bad taste in people's mouths.
