I think what makes them mid is that their whole style has never been actually polished and cemented to radio since it's growth in 2015.

Writing great lyrics is so easy a toddler could do it, look at some of your favorite songs or some of the songs everybody likes. (This is a fact at this point)

Performance Delivery and Reception of those lyrics that's the hard part.

I promise you thousands of people can write like any artist you think are great lyricists (take Kendrick Lamar pulitzer prize winner for example) their overall package and presentation is what fails them

You are missing the whole musical talent part of being an artist

But can you rap well, can you sing well, can you come up with a decent melody, etc
