Project Hail Mary is ok. It’s good. It’s a sci-fi with some good heart. Anything negative I’m about to say is things that didn’t gel with me, only one I’d say is a true criticism.

The science needed a bit more clear explanation. They explained and I 95% picked it up but maybe a better representation. My actual criticism is the quantity of comedic bits. It’s not my style of comedy, but it wasn’t offensive. My issue is that there were a few times where the overindulged. If you gel with the comedy I’m sure you’ll love the amount.

I also don’t understand how a species that can detect the astrophage and build a ship for interstellar travel doesn’t know about radiation and relativity. That’s an actual impossibility.

I’m not trying to rain on the people who enjoyed it. I realize it’s mostly not my type of movie and that’s fine

  • Loved this so much

This is a feel good movie about friendship in the face of death. The humor worked for the most part for me and I loved how this looked. The way IMAX was utilized in this was something I can't recall ever seeing in a movie before.

Lmfao the science was the only thing I was left questioning. Like for me to enjoy it, I kinda had to turn my brain off and just accept the fact they just figured everything out like communicating and other bullshit

  • Yeah, this was a JOURNEY. Stayed mostly true to the book. I understand the science criticisms, but the book had some of those too lol

This really is gonna be a top 3 film for me this year. A crime Gosling never won for best actor yet.

Saw this yesterday in IMAX. Lots of fun and heartwarming. Shot beautifully with a great use of colour, and the set design was love when space ships in movies use that retro futuristic design.

My only gripe is that my vision of Grace in the book was much more nerdy/geeky. Gosling's Grace had some of that but he also veered into Ryan Reynolds territory at times. Luckily he didn't go full Reynolds.
