Ryan Gosling - Best Actor in a Leading Role

what I feared about Gosling was true, unfortunately
he's officially given one too many performances in this vein
don't really think he elevated the performance beyond the sort of charm he could do in his sleep
it's a fine performance, but bland casting

thought this was good. it's fun (and funny) and it is earnest but I wasn't as emotionally affected by it as others seem to be. i also find that i wasn't filled with the same level of awe and spectacle as I have been by other space films like 2001, Interstellar, or even the Dune films.

It feels like seeing his life in flash backs a bit before he lost his entirely family and all friends would help . I didn’t feel his stages because they basically choose him because he had no reason to live but being right about another species . In the end yes he was right and yes he lives with them they are his new family who love him . Seeing a bit more of the other crew before they died or earth . Part of me wanted a less neat ending . Does the world unite after the Jesus like character sacrifices himself in space for humanity ? Does one nation take credit. It’s not that it matters . The ending is just so neat and so happy but book is similiar but apparently he seems more tempted to eventually return to earth. I wasn’t shocked they forced him to go
