There's a lot more to it than that (data mining, voice actor/composer mishaps too) but it all mostly comes down to a bunch of reliable non-Half Life insiders all getting information relating to its announcement/release windows.

From this weeks insider gaming podcast per Mike Straw
• Has a date on hand but isn't willing to share it because he thinks it's a Canary Trap set up by Valve to catch leakers.
• Unless he gets physical concrete proof of when it's releasing, he won't give the date.
• But he still believes it's being revealed this year.
• Still doesn't think it'll be at the TGA.
• IF it pops up at the TGA then it'll be to show off more as a follow-up following the real reveal before the event.
• Working hard to get some semblance of consensus on the date.
• Both Tyler and Gabefollower still haven't said that the 2025 reveal plan has changed.
