@Elric you put me onto this
truly one of the greatest albums of all time. very special art

Almost transcends the genre tbh but we gotta talk about it somewhere
Everything in here is definitely in rotation, but tripping to the dead >>>
Idk if anyone in here has ever listened to live Dead but Jerry's solos are A1. He is the best/most creative guitar player of all time imo.
pet sounds the goat album to simp to
Have you checked out Present Tense by Saggitarius? Closest anybody else got to that opulent '66-'67 studio concocted sound the Beach Boys had
Dude was also Brian's Wilson's earliest songwriting partner, developed the ballad style with him and even co-wrote Surfer Girl etc
@RVI @Elric @Ithaka one of my fav beatles songs ever
The coziest

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hxN06Ymlz0f*** ya it's so hard for me to listen to anything else at the peak lol don't get me wrong I love Jimi, Jimmy, and all those dudes alike but NO ONE does it like Jerry man
I'm a big 80s dead fan. I really like Brent on keyboard and his vocals. 69 and 74 are some of my favorite years too
Cornell 77 of course

when I'm in the mood for grateful dead, nothing else can scratch that itch. every few months I've been going through a Dead phase where its almost all I listen to for a few days
I haven't listened to too much Brent era but I liked 1979. heard other stuff from mid 80s and march 1990 but wasnt feeling it too much when I listened. need to check some more out
Garcia is definitely one of my top guitarists. and lesh is one of my top bassists too a holy duo
ALRIGHT SO
this is my fav psychedelic rock pop obscure gem baby that you’ve never heard of

the smoke is a project from 1968 by michael lloyd who was only 19, he wrote all the songs, sings, does the keys, guitar, bass, horn and strings arrangements! yes all of that by himself, a teenager still
the smoke is extremely inspired by the beach boys, michael who happened to know bruce johnston got invited by bruce during the good vibrations recording session which surely left an impression
I met Bruce Johnston and he took me to a couple of sessions while Brian was recording Good Vibrations, it was a great experience.
this inspiration is easily heard on my favorite “self a***ysis”
clearly, the jumpy organ a la “good vibrations” and that unique bass melodic signature style that screams brian wilson ofc
but even more on the nose on the songs “cowboys and indians” which echoes the bbs “heroes & villains”
imo this is the masterpiece of that era you’ll never find on any of those popular list, get on it 🤗
@Elric @SoHelpMeDog @cotton_dockers @MORPHE @Bad_Finger_Boogie @Womanpuncher69 @youarecool @Jerry_Seinfeld @Cookies @Yolko

this more trippy tho
best beatles album either way
Not sure if this counts but this is one of my favorite songs by The Beach Boys

I’ve been wanting to get into their psychedelic stuff. Can you give me a couple albums to start with?
