I go to school in a city so public transportation is a lifesaver because driving in any city is awful
But when I’m not in school I love having my own car to go where I please
Absolutely
Obviously cars are necessary for traveling outside of well populated areas or living in those areas but well designed transportations can beat any roadway system in towns and cities
You selfish need of a private space while you go to work (??????) or an aesthetically pleasing luxury good is not as important as the overall positive effect of not having cars pollute and greedily hog space in our limited world
Sure you can say “oh but how will I live in my suburb town without a car???” Well if your city decided to design the town around foot traffic instead of paving 50 foot streets while leaving you with 6-7 feet of sidewalk then it would be far easier to live without a car
But auto and gasoline corporations have a tight grip on this country so you see massive sprawling cities like Houston that waste space in a truly disgusting manner
100% of the time this is true
I don't wanna hear excuses about American cities and there size, layout, and distance from another.
Imagine if America had a developed high speed rail system instead of airlines going to LA and back in 6 hours without stupid airport bullshit
americana preaching!!! tell em king!!

Sometimes I wanna work in urban design to bring these issues to the forefront of America but at the end of the day, being a politician is the only way you can gain the power needed to put the right heads at the top
generally? no
Literally every city planner and urban designer hates cars but has to design them because their city government requires it

yep, it's all controlled by the auto industry and has been for so long, they're just so deeply entrenched it's awful. really hoping I can make a move out of America happen in the next 5 years lol this place is cheeks

Reading about how GM bought and dismantled the entire LA rail system to pave it over for streets to sell their cars is one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever see
I wish velomobiles and such were the dominant personal transport instead of cars...
