Imagine if America had a developed high speed rail system instead of airlines going to LA and back in 6 hours without stupid airport bullshit

Imagine all the trillions that we spent on war was instead used on infrastructure. This country could’ve been on some futuristic s*** smh

    What did Hoover do

I’m tripping I was confusing him with William Levitt and Levittowns

I could be tripping but that bottom suburb design is modeled after the postwar Levittowns, no?

    Yes.

    Correct

The Levittown was one of the first “mass produced suburbs” or something like that in postwar america

Literally every city planner and urban designer hates cars but has to design them because their city government requires it

it's because of American culture, jobs Americans do

of course cars need to be planned for everyone has one

What jobs do Americans do that other people in the world don’t do and the only reason cars are needed is because the automotive industry literally dismantled public transportation for their own interests in the 1920’s. That s*** is still underfunded

It’s really not crowded. It’s just that people aren’t kept in a box for 18 hours a day and instead go out and about like most normal people (non-Americans) should be doing

a lot of people have trucks because they're transporting large materials, ever go to Home Depot and see all the contractors?

I don't know where you are but you have to wait for public transportation, you're at their discretion

cars provide flexibility and this is coming from someone who uses public transportation constantly lol

Im not a big fan of driving personally. I would love to use the time I waste driving into fitness or to completely relax. Currently Im still stuck with the car but Im not working this job long anyways.

I wish America properly invested in public transit instead of letting millions of dollars in funding go “missing” and then turn around and say its not feasible

The total incoherence Is America the only place with contractors? Is Home Depot really the biggest reason we should be car centric???

What flexibility does private transportation give outside of you traveling rural roads, especially if we were in a hypothetical world where public transportation was properly funded meaning there were trains and busses that ran everywhere and were on time. You’re still at the mercy of road design, traffic conditions, thousands of other drivers not f***ing up, and of your own shortfallings while driving

whos saying "give up you car now b**** and you can never own one again" like...

it's just public transit undeniably better for our planet and imo that should be our focus rn

cars and trucks is cool but like cars don't run when temp gone up 7c by 2100
