Doja listed first, it just means more.

Is Doja Cat the best mainstream artist to blow up in the last five calendar years?

    Doja is huge.

Pop is a genre just like hiphop is

That has now been heavily influenced by hip hop so hip hop artists like Doja Cat and Lil Nas X are actually apart of both

Maybe you should change your definition of what you consider a superstar.

maybe u should if u think that sales are the be all end all

    Juice Wrld wasn’t a rapper

Pop Smoke had mad potential tho

Lol he wants us to believe kendrick a superstar.

    Yea ok

  • BonelessWings

Juice would’ve been Drake level with his versatility and catchiness and Xxx’s music would’ve been huge as well. Pop had appeal too, all three of them had crazy talent 😢

Dude just looking for the next 360 deal

  • He mentioned the late 00’s and early 10s superstars but Travis and Post Malone are stars that blew up in the mid to 2010s.

and he can still barely sell an arena

To be fair, Lil Baby's tour did moderately well given that we have COVID and he brought Durk's crazy ass with him.

If he has another major record with My Turn type of impact, I could see him being able to headline a tour on his own. He may not sell everything out but he'll be able to pull it off.

I both agree and disagree with Punch.

I don't think we'll have another "Big 3" anytime soon. The whole industry has devalued albums and social media and streaming has made everything decentralized.

We'll probably get more Big Seans,, Thuggers, G Eazy's, and possibly Future's but I straight up don't see any new school rapper having the impact, longevity, and legacy of the Big 3.

As for Doja and LNX goes, they have more of a pop star impact than a regular rap star career and, even then, I'll say that only Doja is the true superstar here due to her hits being top notch and being a decent live performer. LNX has controversy and trolling to keep him in the headlines but I don't see him getting taken that seriously by the average rap or pop fan even with critics trying to force Montero into being a classic.

Lil Baby is cool to me but people selling him as the next Wayne or Drake are crazy- does My Turn sound like it’s by an artist with that kind of versatility ?

Again I’m a fan and he’s prob in my top five most anticipated next projects, but I’m skeptical of his ability. I do think it’s really weird that the late 00s-early 10s artists are STILL the top dogs, think maybe people are noticing that and rushing to find the next people to replace them.

I like Keem but I agree. I'm not even sure if I can see him having a Wale type of career.

Melodic Blue's not even Gold yet even with the stimulus packages.

    Keem definitely has potential.

He’ll probably sign to a major record label on a distribution deal after PGLang builds him up.

People didn’t expect SZA to become a superstar now look at her.
