An estimated 68% of released prisoners were arrested within 3 years, 79% within 6 years, and 83% within 9 years. (2005-2014)

Edit: These aren't specific towards heinous crimes, just demonstrating in general that the punitive system doesn't work

It doesn't work as well as we'd like it to, no
It is a means to hold - deterring those from doing more; even if it is only for a time

The problem is when you get it wrong. What if you torture and/or kill an innocent person?

Means to what to hold? Why would you keep doing something that doesn't work and expect a different result?

  • Dec 2, 2019

Rape, murder should be instant death. These people HAVE to go tbh. That applies to my family and friends too. If any of them did that s*** and they got sentenced to death I'd agree with it.

It holds those accountable so they can't do it again. should that be their intent to be a repeat offender

Focus more on rehabilitation like in scandinavian countries and work on justice reform along with prison reform.

I think people who commit multiple murders or rape kids should be locked in a cement hole with no food and no water. Just leave them there to slowly starve to death.

S***crimes should maybe just carry stiffer penalties? As it stands, rape, from a legal standpoint in the U.S., is clearly still too much of a chance worth taking for rapists. I get that it can be harder to prove in a court of law than murder, but that also seems like a stacked deck in and of itself, like how Chappelle complained that Louis C.K. “didn’t do anything you can get arrested for” without thinking about the fact that maybe the parameters of those laws weren’t determined by victims.

Leave it to the other prisoners they’ll sort em out

  • Dec 3, 2019

I dont believe in the death penalty as death is an escape. I believe the criminal should live a long slow painful life stripped of human rights and be reminded of his wrong doings. For example A rapist shiuld be castrated and thrown in a metal box for the rest of their lives.

I think we should extend it to treason/spies too. You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart? Right? The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now

If it’s 100% proven, end them execution style on television

Wanted your opinion on something - usually when some f***ed up crime happens like a rape or some murder or kidnapping - some people say the criminal should be hanged or worse - tortured or something.

Do you think that putting out heinous punishments for heinous crimes acts as a deterrent for future potential criminals or nah?

p sure that theres a statistic out there that ex-cons go back to prison at a pretty decent rate, if whittling away your lifespan in a facility for doing dumb s*** isnt enough of a deterrent, ion think harder punishments would exactly accomplish that either lol.
